Hello all, I've read a lot about the measurements between posts but, I can't find much info on the measurement from the posts to garage door and/or back wall. Is everyone just using the center point between the back wall and door opening? I'll primarily be lifting mid/full size cars and was planning on using 125" between posts but, was unclear on the distance from the door opening/back wall. Thanks in advance for any info

What I did was center my car - front to back in the garage to determine where I wanted to put the posts. When my car is in the air, I have approximately 4 feet in front and 4 feet in back of the car for access. I spaced my posts approximately 130 inches apart to allow for opening the doors somewhat when it is on the lift.

One of my posts is maybe 6 inches away from one wall. You could probably get it closer if need be..

I'm installing mine this weekend. My car has pretty much 50/50 weight distribution, so I plan on just parking the car there and walking around it to see if I think there is enough room front to back and then finding the center of the car and putting the posts right there.

It'll definitely be more toward the driveway than center in the garage. Mainly because I have a workbench up against the wall.... which might end up getting moved, depending on how all this goes.

Just put it where it makes sense for the vehicle(s) that you work on the most.
