Thought I would do a thread on the install of the Maxjax I just bought off of Craigslist. Going to call Maxjax tomorrow to see if I can buy the parts from them I am missing like the flow divider and hose and all the plumbing fittings and a shim set that usually comes with them.
My garage floor is angled to the drain in the middle so when I stood the beam up it leans that direction. About a half bubble off on a 3 foot level. But when I put my starrett angle finder on it it shows just a hair over 1°. Looks like maybe 1/4" shim on one side will fix this or is that much acceptable? Or is that much shim ok?

The shims are nothing fancy-- just large washers with a side cut out. You'd have to stack a few to get 1/4". I think your question is one for the Maxjax people if you are calling them anyway.

Probably the real question is what happens when the lift is lifting unequally-- the rear of the car is lifted by two of the arms while there is no weight on the front two arms. By the time you add the distance that could be a few inches.

Be sure to order their epoxy anchor kit. It is less expensive from them than trying to buy the epoxy and anchors from a Grainger or the like.

Wow!! I called Dannmar awhile ago. Just the flow divider is $352.29! With that and the fittings for the hydraulics they want $571.45 plus shipping. Holy cow Im going to have just about the same in it as a new one would have been and I got this one for $1250.
Dannmar is proud of there parts. I may just re sell it and buy a different brand in a 6' now. Guess I have a decision to make.

I took a look at the piece in question. I'm putting money on it they don't even make that piece and a universal made in USA one would be a better choice. I believe it's just a 2 way 50/50% flow divider.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I called the guy I bought the lift from to see if he may have forgot to bring the block by chance. He has got to do some more work for the widow on April 7th and he is sure the parts are in her garage someplace and he will look then and ship anything he finds to me. Guess Ill just wait till afte that before I do anything. I am going to call Dannmar tomorrow after work and order a set of epoxy anchors and go ahead and mount the posts.

12"x12". The plate also has sides that are 1.25" long. They are bent in order to mount on the outside of the cart's tubing.

Exactly what I was looking for.Thank you very much. I am actually a machinist and in charge of the brake form dept. Figured I would just make one..
You may have seen my other question, All the handles I see on here are on left hand side,Mine is on right hand side? Did someone put it on wrong side or is this ok?

Anyone here know anything about Concrete? My floor tapers to the middle drain so I am planning on installing it toward the back where its a little leveler. My garage was done in 2004 and here is the poor. Does this look like minimum 4" or can you tell?

Anchor bolts aren't here yet but I couldn't wait to drill a hole to check my concrete. I just drilled one hole and stopped at 4 1/4"..So far so good. Not sure how deep the hole has to be for the epoxy anchors so Ill wait till they get here before I do anything else.

Is that so it doesn't have to be permanently mounted?

Ymurf - check out my post here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4663101&postcount=451

It details the fittings I used and the source. I have no connection with them - but they were great to work with and would definitely recommend them. I would NOT recommend the stock fittings with the Maxjack - they are 'inferior' (****). The ones I got leak nothing on connect/disconnect (perhaps a literal drop). I had them make me custom hoses as well, you can see my pictures with everything I did.

Feel free to ask me any questions.

I spaced the posts at 120". Then backed the mustang and the jeep and a ford escape and my 2001 extended cab truck in. My 2001 is a tight fit getting out the door but I think it will work. I wont have my anchors till Monday but I had to drill a hole to make sure my concrete was thick enough.I drilled to 4 1/4" and never broke through so just hope the other holes are that good.

Good job. make sure you blow those holes out dust free before the install. Make sure you don't breathe the dust either.

Got my anchors in from fedex today. Going to start drilling the rest of the holes. I am pretty sure I will have to drill all the way through the concrete for the epoxy anchors. They seem pretty long. Did I read on here someplace about stuffing something down the hole so the epoxy dont just push out the bottom? How did you guys do your epoxy anchors?

Did that for hours,Found tons of stuff about the wedge style and tons about them not holding and having to cut out concrete and re pour. And tons of stuff about using epoxy anchors just not there experience on how everyone found the best way to do them. Just thought someone with experience might chime in.

Well I got one side drilled tonight. Drilling the holes is a PITA! I had the one hole drilled already so I scooted the post back in place and marked for my next hole and pre drilled it to 5/8. When I put post back in place the hole had walked and I didn't notice it.It was like a half a hole off. So I moved post back one row of holes and this time I left post in place and drilled using the holes in post as a guide. Went about two inches and then stop and put a deep well socket in the hole to keep post in place then did the same to all holes putting deep well sockets in the holes as I went. Then removed the post and finished drilling them. On a good note I drill all the way through and my concrete on that side is 5-5 1/2". You can see in the picture I have an extra hole that will be covered with the post base. Now I need to figure how to epoxy these in without my epoxy going straight out the bottom.

my thoughts on this are to get a 5/8 in wooden dowel, hammer it in the hole ultill you have about a 5 inch hole (bury it in the dirt below a few inches at least 6in?), fill up the hole just over half way with epoxy, as you put the inset in it should force the epoxy back up the sides and when the anchor hits the dowel you should be able to hammer it further into the dirt below as it needs room. I have not tried this method but I have been thinking about it quite a bit and this is what I plan to do on my install if I go through the concrete.

Does anyone have access to any single Hilti HIS series anchors? I am looking to buy 1.

Well holes brushed and cleaned several times and then wrapped a painters tack rag on my wire brush and ran that in the holes. A couple holes are crooked. I didnt notice it last night. Guess they will be ok. Going to go ahead and epoxy the one side in tonight before I drill the other side.

Well I got them in. I am kinda worried though. I put coffee filters in the bottom of hole. There wasn't much void at all. under the slab. I filled holes to probably a little over half full then ran two beads the length of the anchor and when I put them in the hole only one had epoxy push back up to the floor. I knocked them down to just below flush to the floor. Had just enough epoxy in one tube to do the 5 holes. Should the epoxy have pushed up on all the holes or am I still ok? Guess Ill leave them till tomorrow evening. Whats the best way to check them tomorrow night to see if they hold good?

Well I marked the anchors with a marker and put post in place. Put the bolts in and torqued them to 90#. Then removed the post and all the anchors looked fine. Didn't pull up or twist. I then made some shims on the cnc plasma cutter and shimmed level. Then re bolted post down to 70#. Guess over the weekend we will drill the other side and put the anchors in.I also got my new hydraulic fittings in from McMaster Carr.

Drilled the other side tonight and epoxied the anchors in. This time I shoved allot more coffee filters in the hole. Also over filled the holes and the epoxy pushed up to the floor allot except one hole. I am worried about the one anchor. Guess Ill check them to 90# tomorrow night.

Well the guy I bought my lift from said he would get the flow divider and send it to me..He said he knew where it was. Since then he wont return my call or texts. Thats what I get for trusting someone from Craigslist.
Any way I bit the bullet and ordered the flow divider from Danmarr and should be here tomorrow. Then all I should still need is the short hose that goes from pump to flow divider. Ill post back when I get everything hooked up.

Got everything hooked up tonight. All I need is the short hose that goes from pump to flow divider which I will get made after work tomorrow. mAnd some AW32 which I will also get tomorrow after work and then I am ready to try it out.
It says to use AW32 hydraulic oil or dexron iii trans fluid. Is one better to use than the other? The hydraulic oil is about half the cost of the dexron iii.

Got everything done.Lift works pretty good. It does lift a little higher on one side but only a little over an inch and a quarter. And they said that's in there tolerance. I am going to order a couple of those tall jack stands from Greg smith equipment for added safety. I have lifted a ford focus and my 68 mustang so far.
