I saw two additional issues.
1) they installed the bolts with an impact. Not a good idea IMO and against Danmar instructions from what I recall
2) as they were lifting Jays priceless Mopar....the guy runs over and takes a big breaker bar off the top of the Maxjax. It could have hit someone on the head or ever worse...dented Jays car...lol.

1...I get your point, but I don't think they were fully tightened. Notice how the video blips right after that? I made the assumption they were torqued up after that. They should have explained that, though.

2. That's a safety bar. Look at the lift before he moves it, and you can't see the hole. In the shot after he moves it, you can see the hole where it goes.

I wonder if the bolt at 6:03 is cross threaded? That impact is doing an awful lot of work to slowly wind that one bolt in.

Blowing those bolts down with an impact is a great way to unseat those anchors. Not to mention not even properly torquing them.

What if someone at home mimics that and the anchors fail with that person under the car?

Yes, the impact.

Notice the guy driving the first bolt at 3:10. He's really leaning on it, which means there was a lot of resistance. Then when he pulls the wrench off there's still about a 1/4" to go before it's holding anything. I bet the threads were fawked up.

Jay was doing this as a demo. That's never going to get any use and was probably hauled out of there after the shoot was complete.

What I liked best about this video is Jay laying down and setting the lift arms. I think he is really a down in the dirt guy like us and uses his night job to support his real love, vehicles

100% all day long.

That's why he still does regular comedy clubs from time to time. He just likes doing it. He makes something like $30M per year for the Tonight Show. Yet there are plenty of stories about finding him on the side of the road with a broken (insert old car brand/model here).

I like to think that's how I'd roll if I were ... rolling in it.

He broke down on the 101 a few years back, tow truck said they'd be there in 45 minutes so he ordered a pizza as they garanteed delivery in 30minutes or less....

Apparently he banks the $$ from the Tonight Show gig & lives off his appearance fees.

My Brother and I have seen Jay at a few car shows.

Like a true car guy, dosen't seem to be big into cloths. Blue jeans and denium shirt, every time.

Like me and my 3 / $7.oo black pocket "T" shirts. (I have more cars, than pants)

I'll bet his garage becomes a Museame (SP) after he passes (may that be a LONG time)

Sleeping under the car... **** you'd have time to get a full nap before the car was lifted! Why is that thing so slow?

Actually, he saves every penny he gets from NBC. He only spends the money he gets from public appearances (comedy clubs, Vegas shows, commercials, etc).

“I had two jobs as a kid, one at a fast-food restaurant and one at a Ford dealership. And I’d put the money from one job in one pocket and spend it. And the other paycheck I’d save,” he says. “I do that now. I have always banked my Tonight Show money and lived off the stand-up. I have one credit card, no mortgage, and I don’t lease.” — USA Today, 7/16/2008

I'd like to have something like that lift, but am I the only one that has safety concerns? It seems like they are asking a lot from those concrete anchors. If they fail, the car would come crashing down on you.

With the maximum of 6000 lbs of load on the lift, each rear most anchor has approximately 3300 lbs of tension on it.
Each of the front two bolts have 900 lbs of tension and 3200 lbs of compression.

EACH anchor is rated to 12,580 lbs of tension.

EACH anchor's actual failure point (properly installed in 3000 psi 4" thick concrete) is 22,806 lbs.

So there is actually a fairly hefty safety factor. Of course if you do something stupid like blow the bolts into the anchors with an impact and you shock the anchors so much they spin in the concrete and unseat...you may have a problem.

Joe, Odd things can always happen, but most lifts are installed much the same way, some with fewer anchors than that. The first installs, on above ground twin post, years ago made me think the same thing, now it is standard proceedure and they have a very good track record.
