07 F-150 screw.....the lifting wasn't a problem but with it being extended cab it took a couple of try's to get it centered correctly so it was stable.

I am thinking of getting the max jack.

I have a 2002 Toy Landcruiser. It is around 5400 pounds. I am going to look for someone to corner weigh it. The Maxjax has 2 weight specs. Total and corner. I'm thinking your 2 front corners are going to exceed the weight rating.

er, generally you lift with the center of gravity at the center of the lift (asymmetric lift operators can hush for now, the max jax is -not- asymmetric.. :) ), which generally means that you've got 50% of the weight on the front arms and 50% of the weight on the rear arms.

yes, with my long bed quad cab ram 2500, that means there's a -lot- of length out back (CG with a half tank falls right around the drivers ****, as measured and balanced by me). and sure, it might be heavier left than right, but I doubt you'd be exceeding the weight rating. for any particular arm, unless they've fouled up their engineering something serious.

...david (who doesn't own a maxjax, but does own a 6k lift from autolifters)

The center of gravity may not be perfectly between the lift points. I was merely pointing out that if you have a 6000 pound lift and your vehicle weighs 6000 pounds "wet" for all practical discussion, that you may be over the corner limits.

This is most likely a "paper" discussion because I'm sure the jack is over engineered by 50% or so.

BUT, if the jack were to fail, it would be an interesting discussion if the two front arms were overweight...

my grand cherokee with the hemi and armor weighs a tad over 5,000 lbs and ive had it at full lifting height plenty of times without issue... And thats with the arms FULLY extended to reach the framerails.

That being said though, If I am going to get under it i put 4 tall tripod jackstands under the car. It just makes me feel warm and fuzzy, but they aren't needed.

2010 toyota land cruiser armored level 3. That is 2850 kgs or 6300 lbs more or less. Arms at minimum extend, due to space contrains. Nothing happened. I am still alive.
Also a 1961 Mini at 580 ks or 1300 Lbs. arms at maximun extend. Nothing happened. I am still alive.

What is this armor u people are talking about?

In pac man's case, I suspect he's talking about skid plates, but in Jvvmusme's case, being that he's in Bogota, Colombia, and he mentioned Level III, I think he's actually talking about ballistic protection.
But I'm just guessing on both counts.:D

I would think that what the jacks are rated at and what you can lift, the jack can lift more than it's listed weight. They will have a safety factor built in. You don't want to press your luck though. For safety reasons it may have a 500# difference which seems like a lot, but even with that you don't want to press your luck.

Bad Hammer unfortunetly is correct....even that safety conditions in Colombia have improved dramatecly in recent years. The Toyoa is not mine, I was just doing a test. Personally I only drive convertibles when possible....MG TC - TD, Austin Healey 100M, Alfa Romeo Guillua Spider,...

OK. We got delivery of a '11 CPO Audi Q7TDI on Wednesday.... I had a chance to pick it up today. (literally)

Ideally, I'd like to have it back about 6-12" to move the COG a little closer to the uprights, but the rear arms are fully extended to reach the rear lift points. Actually both arms are at about their max length. There isn't very many places within reach of the arms with the current setup on the maxjax. It would have been nice to have a couple inches more reach with the arms for this vehicle. I might move the columns closer together, but the cost of anchors is cost prohibitive, and I can barely squeeze out the driverside door as it is with this vehicle.

I had to use a hockey puck ontop of each pad to get to the mounting points, less i crush some plastic. It is as if the Audi's stock lift points are recessed a little bit underneath the vehicle.... kinda dumb.

The curbweight of the vehicle is about 5600lbs. Cargo area empty. Only some papers in the glove box and a small child booster in the back. I'm going to take the Q7 to the dump sometime to weigh it.

Ambient temperature today was about 18C when I did the lift. Happily, I didn't trip the breaker, as my MaxJax is currently plugged into a 15amp 110v circuit.
