Considering a MaxJax for my 1933 one car garage. Questions:

1)The Garage is sitting on block and I think there is 4" of concrete. I had the concrete poured and I know there is rebar and screen in it. No visable cracks after at least ten years. How can I be sure it is 4"?

2) I hope to be able to lift '55 and '57 Chevies but also a Miata and a Vega. Cinder block to cinder block width at the floor is 128". Is this doable and should I set the posts at maximum width if so?

Thanks,
Larry

You need to make sure you have enough floor extending beyond the column to keep the column from "folding in" under load. How far does your slab extend under the wall?

Danmar recommends the column be centered on a 4'x4' section of seamless 3000psi concrete 4" thick/deep. I had a similar problem and cut/poured a 2'x2' section of 5000psi concrete 18" thick/deep that was reinforced and keyed under the original "thin" slab by an additional 4" on each side making the base 40"x40"x14" under the level of the old concrete.

When in doubt, contact Danmar and talk to an engineer. They can tell you what to measure and give you the correct answers.

Worts case, you can save $1000 and get a Ranger BL-5000 QuickJack!

Good luck!

I load an extended cab S10 Chevy truck without issues, as well as my three wheel Cushmans and Triumph Spitfire. I know your Vega will easily work. I can't speak to the full size shoeboxes, but possible. Vertical clearance overhead is the biggest concern.

What is your Vega? I've had 26 over the years, and know the darn buggers bumper to bumper.
