MaxJax Safety Brackets?

I have been a very satisfied owner of a MaxJax. Inasmuch as I have always looked for enhancements to safety, I was wondering if anyone has thought about or installed a safety bracket, attaching the top of the MaxJax posts to garage ceiling rafters? I know that it is probably unnecessary but I would assume that in the UNLIKELY event of a floor anchor(s) loosening or failing, the top stabilizing bar would offer a safety enhancement and post stabilization. Any thoughts?

If there would be movement of the MAxJax posts with a car on it, any sort of bracing to the rafters or trusses could cause movement and may very well cause the rafters or trusses to rip out. And with bracing, it would make the removal and storage of the posts very difficult if not doable after bracing.

As long as the install of the floor anchors is done correctly and the two posts are plumb, there shouldn't be any problem. Of course regular inspection of the floor and the anchors should be done.

I don't have a problem with my concrete, but I still use a heavy metal cabinet on moving dollies that I slide under the car when it is up. It just makes me feel a little safer. You could make a frame with heavy pipes that would slip over the cylindrical columns of the lift, but that would require two people to install.

Once the arms have been lowered onto the steel safety bars, I then put a tripod stand under the front and rear and snug it up. Makes the whole elevated car rock solid.

+1. Your rafters aren't designed for this kind of loading and it could cause the floor above to collapse.

You are better off investing in the anchoring system and how you load the jacks.
