Greetings all. As a corollary to my concrete question (http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=322536), what if I just have the lift post on the opposite size of the (garage) post in the pics? Meaning, I would position the lift post on the silver car side of the post, that would be used to lift the blue car side. Essentially have the lift post straddling the garage post. Thoughts?

As long as you don't want to open the door it should work. The lift won't know the post is there
