Pass on some information. Got hold company tec from mr heater. On the maxx garage heater 45000. The pipe size 3'' not correct. Has to be 4'' horizonally and vertical. Fact you can run pipe straight out back unit thru wall thimble. Needs stick out thimble 12'' - 18'' inches then 90 up 12'' with cap. So wind can't blow back thru. Person talked to is below.

I just went out and checked my instruction manual for my 45000 btu big maxx heater, and the tech was wrong on the info. It says that if you have the 45000 btu unit and are going to run vertical through the roof to use 3" dia pipe for the exhaust. If you are going to run the same 45000 btu unit with a horizontal exhaust then you would run the 4" dia pipe. Now if you have the 75000 btu unit, then you run the 4" dia pipe regardless of whether vertical or horizontal. Mine is run with the 3" through my roof with all of it being double wall pipe with the exception of the 90* elbow coming off the back of the heater and then the double wall starts up. I have had mine up for 2 years now and have no problems with the way mine is set up. I'll give tech the benefit of the doubt and say he misunderstood you when you talked to him.

Not necessarily, if you were going to run this heater with a horizontal exhuast, then you would use and adapter to increase up to 4" after coming off the back of the heater.
