I have not seen a tool truck within the last week. Has anyone else seen a tool truck recently? Thank you for the contributions to the April sighting thread. This is open to all brands of tool trucks, even the independent dealers. I love the pictures you posted especially the one taken in the Harbor freight parking lot.

My Snap-on guy stops weekly and my Cornwell guy just stopped a couple of weeks ago. I only see the Cornwell man about once or twice a year.

I saw a Mac Tools truck in the Raleigh, NC area on Monday while I was out running errands.

Cornwell at our shop every Wednesday in Elkridge, MD (near Ellicottt City!). I've never been a tool truck buyer in my 40+ years but since I saw a product in his catalog, after researching details on Amazon, I bought it from him. He earned it.

Saw a Mac Tools truck in my area for the first time in at least 12 years. Newer Dry Van. Not the traditional 'Bread van'. I didnt catch the name on the truck and when I drove past "dealership lane" about an hour later it was gone.

Google/facebook search shows no results for dealer in my area. Actually the only dealer I knew of in the city appears to have gone out of business 2 years ago judging by last facebook posts. If thats right, it looks like my entire province has no Mac dealer at all any more.

MAC has always had a hard time in my area. Ironically they always had the most friendly dealers though. Hope that this is a new guy just making introductions and he will be full time in the future but I have my doubts. Last time a new guy came, he had a hell of a time trying to get guys onboard because they were screwed over by a dealer a few years prior who went out and left them with broken tools.

The suspense is killing me. What's this special tool that took you 40 years to buy?

Not anymore last truck was an independent truck labeled as GearWrench Street Team but he got a really good job offer so I can't blame him. He stared literally a month before the china virus and it has been a tough couple years here.

I appreciate everyone who puts a city and state either to your profile or sighting. It just helps me figure out if there are any tool trucks left on East Coast, USA. Thank you for your time.

It would be interesting to know what guys buy off the MAC truck vs the Snap on truck. Their prices aren't that much better on the MAC truck are they?
Price difference?
Genuine Mac vs. Genuine SO .....It's negligible for the most part. As is the quality***PROVIDED *** we're comparing apples to apples. Genuine Mac vs. Genuine SO.
Expert vs blue point...(both of their lower line and mostly imported) I've no idea but again probably comparably priced.

I prefer Mac wrenches and how they feel in the hand to SO. I prefer SO ratchets. I prefer SK X-Frame ratcheting wrenches above all.
I absolutely loathe small sized particularly 3/8 dr. 8mm-15mm in SO. They're ******** near impossible to remove from a ratchet. Oily? Fuhgetaboutit. Need screwdriver help.
There's just not enough knurl or undercut lines of decoration on those small sockets to help. Again I prefer SK in that setting just because the dual undercut gives enough grip to remove socket from ratchet.
From a quality point SO and Mac and SK for that matter are all in the same ballpark.

The key is with any truck service you're buying the dealer with your money.
If you've a really good dealer that itself is worth a lot. Is the truck stocked good so you can warranty replace when the truck comes without the dealer saying "I'll have to order that in"

A good dealer can make or break the experience with that particular brand.

Some dealers are lazy. Very lazy. Some really hustle it and work hard.

Story time...
We had a Matco guy here that would come rolling in...open the door and sit on his ***. You'd ask him a question about sonething let's say was on the back of the truck and he'd act so irritated and inconvenienced to look something up. He'd say bring it here or what's the number.
Basically you were on your own on his truck.
Super lazy and poor attitude. Hence he got the least amount of sales by far.

Then he just disappeared one day. He and his wife each had a route and they just picked up and moved south. (Kind of odd)

The SO guy on the other hand with definitely a more expansive line (and expensive) hustles it. Every week he has deals on the truck. Specials on things. Even if ge doesn't he gives the perception he does. It's not a gimmick. He believes in what he's selling and he does a great job with warranty work etc..

My Mac guy...just starting out and it's a real tough industry to get going in. Tool guys to mechanics are like doctors. Mechanics don't like changes and different things with their tools. Plus most times they've a long and good relationship with "their tool guy" so new tool guys are looked at as outsiders. Tough to get in but repetition and the right deal at the right time will eventually get the mechanic to come around. Then it's off and running.
I like the Mac guy and gave him some different tips and tricks my SO guy uses and so far so good. He's doing pretty good.

This area has been devoid of a Mac truck for at least 20 years. The previous Mac guy was really good with garages and was well liked. He retired and and nobody picked up the territory until last year.

Price.....

Some things there isn't much difference but some there is.

Example...
SO...

Mac...

So you can see there is a price difference.
Both are made in USA. Genuine SO and Genuine MAC.
Mac also just had these on sale. Trade in any socket set...(dealers don't really give a **** about the trash you trade in) mine didn't care if I traded him in anything or not.
That Mac set was around $380 or so...

That's a great deal for a 10-32mm 1/2"drive with no missing sizes. Made in USA and a truck brand as well.

Snap On truck lives down the block from me. Would it make sense for him to have 2 trucks? Maybe one is hit and doesnt run, I dunno but there's 2 of em there. Drives by my house and me in the driveway working on something dang near everyday. Been wondering how long it'd be before he stopped, hasn't yet. Been 2yrs now.

Ok, this maybe a shot in the dark. But possibly your neighbor lives outside of his sales territory. Snappy has a fairly small sales territory for each franchisee. Snap on fans, please correct me if I am wrong. My snappy rep lives outside of his territory.

I did see him at the local corner auto fixit joint and I know he lives right up the way. I tell ya what though, somebody that's got enough new **** to fill up a truck is clogging up my craigslist something awful. I'm guessing it's this guy as all the posts are labeled my area.

Saw Snap-On and Mac trucks yesterday afternoon on my way home. Snap-On truck in Charleston, Mac truck in Saint Albans, WV at local Ford dealership.
St. Albans. You're not too far off from me. Maybe a hour or so.
I'm Ashland Ironton area. I almost never see any tool trucks my way. A snap on truck rarely out on old 60 headed towards Grayson area.
