Just me, but it's always a concern about what was under there before the rattle-can rebuild.

will consider all trade offers (i do take your old tired or dead equipment in part trade)

Also could use some copywriting editing. The presumption might be made the above was an old, tired or dead piece of equipment taken on trade.

I've been looking to buy a cheap pickup truck and a few ads I've seen have had "freshly painted frame" in the description which scares me a bit. God only knows what could have been there before. Welds, cracks, rust, rot, etc.

Looks like they painted the belts and hoses too. It's really good for rubber to spray them with petroleum based paints

Looks like your typical earl schieb paint job. For $99.95 we'll paint anything that gets in the way. Lol

I think the deal breaker would be if the PO painted the dial indicator gage and regulator as well.

Pass on this disaster waiting to happen.

If you can't paint the components as you rebuild them at least mask them off and two tone it. Dam that's ugly.

I would be very wary of buying equipment from someone who cant even remove belts and just sprays everything in sight with paint. I'm sure the belt will have fun with the sections of the flywheel now covered in smooth glossy paint.....

I don't understand why people do that. I see stuff on CL here that's been painted the same way.

In the pics they are often times sitting on the garage floor right where they were painted.

For me it's an instant turn off. Would prefer the original patina regardless of condition.

Most of the utility trucks that get a refurb come out with their hoses and belts painted too. They are work trucks, not show trucks.. The paint just wears off on the belts, it's not like they are sitting in a bowl of liquid getting saturated and rotting.. They last for years with no issues so I'm not sure what's so horrible about it.

It's a pretty quick paint job, but if it all works with no crazy noises then it's probably fine. Any heavy rust, pitting or leaks should be fairly easy to spot. He obviously did not put too much effort into making it a show piece, but then again he did put some effort into making it look decent. ( I might have picked another color) I say it's probably fine.. The gauge and regulator look clean to me. If he's taking broken equipment, then it only makes sense that he knows what he's doing since he's obviously fixing them to sell or use..

Chances are its a good running unit that looked tired, so he just wanted it a little more presentable to sell. Now It's clean and not all banged up looking.. You're in a forum full of critics so don't expect anyone to call it a masterpiece. If you want a compressor that size and it's in your price range I would check it out. I think people are over reacting..
