Yep they don't make them like that any more. No guards on the drive belt bet you would not reach under a bench to switch that off without looking.

But yes very cool.

You shouldn't forget this was cutting edge technology back in it's day, and can still perform it's designed function long after planned obsolescence has worn out newer styles. We've all been brainwashed to believe safety comes before all else, and at any expense. I believe anyone who doesn't know better than to put their fingers into a running machine, shouldn't be there in the first place. Today the term personal responsibility means passing the buck to some one else.

That is one nice piece of machinery. If I had a space all for me, not at home, I would buy it no questions asked. I just love old machinery like many on this forum, I guess.

When people say patina i want to stab them in the eye.

Man, that thing's got just the vintage NOS patina you need to resto your man cave so you can get your man card.

There, I think I got almost all the annoying GJ catchphrases in one sentence.

That said, pretty sweet compressor.

Definitely very cool looking but good golly it would take for ever to build enough pressure in the take to satisfy the cylinders are tiny. Shop decoration maybe usefulness zero unless your filling bicycle tires.

I'd be afraid to start it and break it. What a great looking piece with wonderful PATINA all over it. If I was close by, it would be mine and I would name it George.

No doubt, not practical for utility purposes. That cast iron "top" piece would make a killer coffee table in the right setting. Still, it is so complete, I would feel guilty dismantling it.

BTW, my compressor is old enough it doesn't have a belt guard either.
