Theres only three left showing in stock, seems his stock does not auto update, it showed three left when I ordered. I should have bought the 3 of them an Ebayed them but then I'd feel guilty for not sharing when I have gotten some good deals on here.

WOW, those are 70.oo to 80.00 in other catalogs.

Yeah, he gets some awesome closeouts sometimes, like I said in my other post (christmas coupon) he does not have the best reputation on this board though. Ive ordered twice and havent had a problem, others have waited for a long time to get their tools, heck at that price I can wait.

I just ordered and then read the rest of the post here. I think I was tricked too. I am currently on with live help and will report back soon.

We'll see, doing a google search using the number he gave I only see the set, plus under the ad he states: "Dominator 60 Degree Long Hook (Picture contains all items in this group) "

BTW I checked the mayhew website and couldn't find country of origin for these. I assume they are made here since most of their stuff is, but obviously that's not necessarily a safe assumption to make.

The link now says "invalid product."

I do not think it is deceptive to show a set of products an example - a lot of places do this. If they use a pool of stock manufacturer-provided photos, showing a set (as long as the description is clear) is better than "photo is not available."

So how would you guys rate Chad's customer service in regard to this experience?

no grumplestiltskin, sounds like they screwed up and when it was brought to their attention they fixed it pretty quickly......

I'd bet that the people who do the website work are probably tired of looking at tools, in fact, they probably could care less about tools- it's just a job to them.

To answer the original question:
Mayhew Dominator Pick made in the US?
I have they Mayhew Dominator® Heavy-Duty Ripping Chisel and the on the grip it says: Molded in Taiwan. I bought it from open stock so I would assume that this means the bar itself is made by Mayhew in the USA but I have no proof. Mayhew seems to be in the pounding on metal business and not the comfort grip business.

If he was being deceptive on purpose he would not have refunded the money so quickly, he lost money on the deals because he refunded in full, so he lost the PayPal fees. Say what you want, they are golden in my book now.

He didn't lose anything, Paypal refunds everything if you refund a payment within their specified time period, 30 days I think.

From Chad:

Reading the postings this all started from I see there was a question of origin.

Mayhew is mostly US made, though much of their newer items are coming from Taiwan. Most everything is proudly stamped “USA”, the “Dominator” line has no statement of origin on our casepacks or the individual tools(some of the sets do say Taiwan on the label)… Experience leads me to believe that if the tool is not marked, it means they are from Taiwan.

We have dropped them, getting back to our roots of only carrying the absolute top end tools, mainly from Germany.

Merry Christmas.

You know what I think about their customer service now, I would like to add that when I clicked the "live help" button someone answered in 10 seconds or so, I started explaining, they obviously knew what was up from the refund they just issued, before I could really even finish explaining I had a refund. The "live help" person said, "we've had these for X amount of months and all of a sudden they start selling like crazy, I wondered what was going on".

I know, I've said it 3 or 4 times in this thread already but I have never been treated as good as they have treated me by an internet based store, they treated me like my mom and pop hardware store does.

As for Chad's Toolbox I can only say that the refund was fast and easy. I will order from them again.
As for Mayhew I have only had good luck with their products. I suspect that most of the handles are made for them by another company but they produce the metal part. I have some of their punches, scrapers and prybars and they are tough and well made. If you look at the Snap on hook set that is similar to the set that started this thread it appears to be the same. Just add chrome and a different handle. Oh yea and then pay double the price.

I also called Mayhew and asked if they made items for companies like Snap on and they said yes. I wanted a big punch like this
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=73537&group_ID=1034&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog
So I bought this

74.65 verses 22.85, A real easy choice.

Well, you would've got what you paid for, but not what you expected.

I've experienced that. Bummer.
