Anybody familiar with these things?
I found one of these at the local township recycling drop off. It had been dragged off to the side because they don't accept furniture. (happens all the time) 48" top was a little beat up but I'll replace it anyway. I noticed it because it appeared to be high end commercial, not your typical discarded computer work station. I thought it would make a good base for a reloading or work bench because it is really heavy and good rectangle steel tube construction. Then I noticed the cut off power cords and thought it probably originally had a power distribution panel or somesuch. and then I realized it was a power drive telescoping column!
Initial testing indicates it is most likely a failed 12v DC transformer. The power screw drive is heavy duty with no apparent damage to threads.
I'm thinking of either fixing it for a power adjustable sit/stand work table or failing that, reworking it to a manual height adjustable 48" work table.
I like the free and useful stuff.
I'll try to post pics later.
