Hey Guys- We have a Matag PAV2300AWW about 15 years old. My wife keeps getting debris in the loads and we can't figure out it's origin. The pieces are about 2" long, have a hard inner surface and a soft feltlike outer suface, the felt is coming apart and getting all over the clothes when washed. The pieces, when assembled, could make a ring about 4" in diameter, like a felt seal of some type. The writing on one piece says, SUBS NO UPC (backwards). Is this part of the washer?

THANKS!

Pull out the agitator. It's most likely a felt seal that prevents small items (loose buttons and such) from becoming lodged under the agitator. It could also be just soap and lint build up that has come from under the agitator. Could be that the soap transferred the ink lettering to itself from the part it was caked to.

Use good penetrating oil on the agitator fasteners, as they/it are probably seized on from the detergent. There's a water pressure device called the "Agi-tamer", that fits around the bottom of the agitator, and then gets connected to the water supply. With the agitator fastener removed & soaked in penetrant, it should come off easily.
