Thinking about picking this up as its only a few minutes away: "deleted"

Never heard of MB Century or Metal Box and Cabinet - any good? is $200 too much? No keys but I'm sure the locks can be replaced...

That era of MBC is really good stuff. MBC made Snap On once upon a time. I have an MBC top box, similar to that, and that ****** is HEAVY. completely empty its about all my son and I can do to pick it up and move it. Get some tools inside it and forgetaboutit.

You will note the top box is full depth, when most top boxes that size are 12" deep, front to rear. If it is like mine, it's also 31" wide instead of the 26 most box setups of that era are.

Sweet, I'll be bidding on that set.

250 miles form Chicago 45 form Detroit and about 250 miles form Indy. I went to the U of M there for 2 quarters in 1968. I lived in Detroit and then oved to Niles MI on lake MI. Chicago was another 90 miles. My farm is 45 miles north of Indy. I had a 1965 VW bug that got 32 miles per gallon and it took 10 gallons of gas. Gas was .199 cents per gallon. $200 would fill it if it were on empty. What the hell happened? We have gone backwards.

If you think that was cheap I bought the car in Detroit and picked it up in German. I spent 10 weeks touring Europe. The car cost me $1382.32 and only $100 to ship it form Germany to Toledo OH. Now that is cheap even for then.

My brother lives in Ann Arbor, he'll pick them up and when I go up for Thanksgiving I'll bring them home, not all that complicated, I will not be driving a VW for the trip although I suspect I'll pass a few on the road during the trip.

apparently this is not a good place to post asking information about items in auctions I intend to bid on....

That's what I was trying to tell you in a subtle way, they are very nice boxes at a great price but I won't be bidding on them. But by posting a link to them a lot more people will see them. Best to save the picture and upload it here without a link to the sale if you're interested in buying. Post a link to the sale after they are in your garage or if you're not interested and want to share it.

I thought that might be what you where doing but decided to stay out of it. I also had the same thought about the pictures.

:wtf: Posting a link to something you want to buy is never a good idea...

Took awhile but I finally got it cleaned and loaded up. Cleaned up pretty well I think. A bummer it didn't come with keys but I don't really have a need to lock it up anyway.

****** good box. I have owned a few through the years and they sold quickly.

I am having one of those days where my eyes dont work. I have such bad dyslexia that when I read your post I read cemetary box. I have it so bad sometimes I even print my own name wrong. I got through collage but it was not easy. I am ok if I don't speed read.

Nice score

Thanks guys...heres an update just because:
added some recycled rubber anti skid mats between the boxes and as liners - its about a 1/16th thick and works really well
(got enough to do all the drawers and then some for a few bucks from work)

Do you still have any of those spare keys around lol. I just picked up a MBC Century rolling tool box for a steal but it didn’t have any keys with it. I know this is a long shot hope to hear from you.

Hey all, I picked up an MBC base and top cabinet at an estate sale for $65. I cleaned it all up, repainted and straightened all the friction slides but it was missing the bottom 1 or 2 drawers on the bottom of the base.

Does anyone know if this had 1 or 2 drawers (there are 2 sets of doubles slides)?

Where can I get replacement slides and possibly a drawer?

Anyone have a donor drawer from a trashed cabinet?
