as promised i am doing a little review on this cart. I got this cart used from my mac dealer for 375. It has slight scratches on it but nothin major and still looks good enough for me. My reasons for getting it were simple enough; 1) ive run out of space in my toolbox and just dont have the cash flow to be buying another box and 2) my shop is not that big and so even trying to wheel my kra around is a hassle.
Now onto the cart. It originally came with a cantilouver system where when you would open the lid you could pull out two sets of shelves. I immediatly had it in my mind that this wouldnt work for me as i would benefit more from having an open area on top, which led me to this.

All it took was 8 screws total and the shelves were out leaving behind the brackets they were bolted to. As you can see this adds significantly more room so that i can have all my most used sockets and ratchets on top. I now temporarely use the brackets for this.

This how i have the rest of my cart set up

The first thing i noticed about the cart is that it is decently heavy when empty so you would get the impression that it is built heavy duty. Sadly i would say that this is not totally the case. The metal that surrounds the top portion (around the sockets) is flimsy, i can easily bend the metal one way or the other, not the whole piece just one section. The legs seem pretty sturdy and when empty doing a quick wiggle test comes back with everything being solid. Without lube the drawers slide just fine and the are held in by detents (non adjustable). One thing i have noticed about the drawers is that even loaded they slide nicely but do require a firm final push in order for the detents to lock. On a normal box i think this would be fine but on a cart such as this it makes it wobble a little. Opening the drawers presents no problems.
The lid opens fantastically. Much better than my snap on kra top box. Just a lil pull of the finger and it opens quickly and on its own. In the future since i work under semis on lifts i will probably unbolt the shock and let the lid fall back the rest of the way.
The casters do leave a little to be desired. They all swivel which, for right now, works out well for me. All wheels have locks. But when rolling across the floor they just dont feel very smooth. Not a big deal to me but since this is a review im trying to mention everything.
I have many ideas about how to maximize my space in this cart but if anybody else has some ideas please feel welcome to tell. Any opinions negative or postive will be greeted equally.
