MBW Ground Pounder

I picked up a MBW Ground Pounder plate compactor at a sale recently. It said that it didn't work. When I got it home I gave it two pulls and it started right up at full throttle (that's a fun story).

It has a Robin Wisconsin W1-185 engine on it, however there is a linkage missing between the throttle lever on the machine and the throttle/choke lever on the carburetor.

After getting the governor unstuck it ran pretty well if I held the carburetor throttle where it needed to be. I'm guessing that I just need a spring to connect the two (see photo) but I thought I'd ask the experts here if it's a special spring or a hard wire linkage, or something else.

In the photo, right above the air cleaner is the carb throttle lever that has choke stamped in it, then the machines throttle lever is to the upper right. Attached to this lever is a spring going to the governor.

Nevermind. Turned out to be that the choke spring and ball bearing was stuck and not holding the choke valve in place. Got that sorted out and it's a new machine.

looks like its hardly ever been used,...since it was pulled out of the lake.
