MC cable feeder to detached garage??

Just looking at some quotes to wire a new house and detached garage. The run to the garage is on the drawings as underground conduit. One of the quotes goes into some detail on circuits and fixtures and lists 50 ft (about the right length) of "100A, 3 wire, MC cable feeder, alum jkt" for the detached garage. Isn't MC cable the type with an aluminum spiral jacket and for dry locations only? Or might this refer to some other type of cable?

The bid is way high (almost 2X!) so they aren't in the running for other reasons BTW...

I have never done it or seen it done, but according to the NEC, it can be direct buried as long it is identified for such use. I believe we talked earlier this year about a quote, but never received the drawings on my email

Regular MC is not rated nor permitted for use underground or direct buried.

Would need to use the PVC jacketed stuff linked above.

Maybe thats why their quote is more expensive.
