Hey guys, I bought a 50k btu hanging furnace for my garage, I’m familiar with gas piping, so that’s not a issue. I want to horizontally vent this furnace, do I go up on a slope or do I give the venting a gradual slope down to let condensation run out? Do I just b vent all the way, even through the thimble ?

You'll need stainless venting to go horizontal and the heater may need to be moved farther from the wall, check there instructions for venting. The manual with heater should detail what you need - it's not cheap. I tend to run the vent almost level

I bought some 3" b vent and a cap and a thimble for the wall, can I hook up b vent right to the heater or do I need a transition piece between the b vent and the pipe coming out of heater

street131- hi....of course you can do the b-vent hookup...i would pitch it slightly out towards daylite in this type of job.
the codes have changed and stainless steel piping with high temp. gasketing is the new pipe ....no expert on this stuff...so do you own research(or not)...
the b-vent is still around because it's still code to use vertically

10 years ago the B vent was allowed for horizontal. It worked. But is no longer up to code. If you want to be in compliance, you have to use the expensive stainless for horizontal.

I am doing my own research and that's part of me asking questions about venting, it sounds like I don't have to use stainless and can use b vent, and theirs a significant price difference, therefore I'm going with the regular bvent.

Did you read the instructions that came with the heater ?:lol_hitti:lol_hitti
If you think you don’t have to use CAT III stainless for horizontal vent your mistaken.

Yes it’s a little more expensive........it will also last a life time and then some.

There is a pretty good reason they changed the rules.
