i rarely use one in the garage, but it's a $19.99 CM.
it's actually in the back of my service truck now..

at the shop i use the base of an old broken office chair with the back removed.

i tossed the broken arms and use the back for a kneeling pad.

I have a snapon stool, but only because my driver replaces my caster for free, seems like a good deal over the span of a career

i got a craftsman roller seat about 10 years ago. i've replaced the castors once.
its damn close to the SO ones. a couple guys i work w/ have those.
i swear at the time i paid 35 or 45 bucks for it.
when its nice out(spring/summer) my wife like to hang out in the garage and have a few cold ones w/ me. last summer i decided to get her her own rolling chair 'cause she liked mine. i went to sears hardware and it was about 110/120 bucks:scared:
**** it. i bought it. shes got a comfy place to sit and i still have mine.

i do like when she hangs out.
i do hate clishes but as they say "happy wife, happy life":lol:

i use the z creeper. its basically two in one, rolling stool and creeper. I like tools that have multiple functions and can save space. I hang it up on the wall layed out flat so its out of the way and unobtrusive. when i need a seat, i pull the spring loaded pin, fold it up to a seat and it locks into place. when i need to lay on a creeper, i pull the pin, and unfold it so it lays down and it locks back into place. good quality, does the job.

I have a craftsman one that was on sale and works for me for now. It is the round style with adjustable height. I mostly us it when I am on a beer brake or watching the tv. My creeper on the other hand that I use all the time is a Matco one.

I was given a Kobalt round one for Christmas last year and its not too bad but I rarely use it and have found an old beat up swivel office chair works the best for me....it just looks like ****!

Not surprisingly the CM looks the same and its a favorite in the garage for under 70. No adjustments or moving parts to break

I have a Pro Performance model, which is basically the same as the Husky one and its been great.. I use it all the time for body work and brake jobs.

My oldie is a Craftsman with metal casters and a plank of wood to sit on. I don't even know where it is anymore.

Next upgrade was a MAC. After 10 years the casters and plastic tray fell apart.

I was considering Snap On but didn't want to pay the price. I decided to try Williams and liked it so much and the price I bought a second one. I simply searched the internet.

It is very stout and sits a little higher than the others. I actually like that because it is easier to stand up. Another plus is the casters have a shield so they don't snag your clothes.

Great seat - used one in a warehouse situation for over a decade and itching to get one for work instead of those pneumatic things that fail to hold weight.

My main issue with these seats is height. The small compact ones everyone has posted are too low to be comfortable, and most pneumatic ones fail too quick (got 4 at work all failed - 3 blue points) and height at max is just under these Whitesides units.

This is Garage Journal. We can make our own rolling seats. Find a scrap pneumatic office chair base that is height-adjustable and get creative. Here are mine.

The Harley boys are always upgrading to Corbin and Mustang. The stock seats end up on eBay for cheap:

Yes we should. This is a take-off seat from a zero turn mower (not my mower) that was upgraded. I put it together years ago. Metal would be a better base material but didn't have a welder so its 2x6 and plywood.

There are numerous other "Garden Roller Seats" available...

They would roll over seams in the concrete/holes in the concrete/air lines/extension cords/etc a lot easier that one with little wheels...

Are creeper/roller seats ok at dealerships in general?

I'm not sure if I've ever seen (tend to try to peek around when I get parts here and there) any of our local ones have those in any of their bays.

I'm with the old pneumatic office chair camp but sometimes, they're just to high.

I have had that seat for a few years works like a champ in the garage and outside on the sidewalk zero complaints.

I have one similar to that thing. All I can say is when you go to pick it up watch where you fingers are, those sumbitches are bloodthirsty mother fawkers that will take any and all chances to flip down and either pinch or smash your fingers to oblivian! They especially lie in wait when you are in a big hurry and you grab that POS because it's handy to throw under a car. When you do, that damned headrest flips down as you pick it up, catches your most used finger because those things are pricks, and it won't let up until it sees blood. Mine finally caught me in a mood and I have since put it in seat mode and leave it there. It only gets used as a creeper by company that comes over, depending on who it is, I'll give a warning, but it never matters that satanic thing is possessed enough that it will still get you at the first moment of not watching it. I have already told it the very next time I get pinched, I weld the joints. All I'm saying is watch out, mine at least was built by vampires...:lol_hitti:beer:

I use the black Craftsman seat with the small back riser, works the best for me. I've had a round one and one like you're considering and to me they felt kinda unstable as I moved about, especially if I hit a floor crack, cord, tool or hose. The Cman version has a wide base and a short backstop that handles the floor cracks well and when it stops abruptly at anything else it doesn't feel like I'm going to topple over.

I have one of the typical creep seat like everybody else that I bought at a swap meet for $20 many years ago.

It's a piece of **** and I've already replaced the casters on it. I need to build a real one this Winter.

I have one of these also got it at Menards yes it is tricky and yes it will draw blood if you are not careful. Hence the reason I never get in a hurry.
