Also little bits of wire or any metal that ultimately gets picked up in the rag. Then the uniform service cleans em and returns to the shop.

You put your new/used/cleaned pile of rags on your toolbox or cart and the customer or salesman with the Rolls Royce (and a new paint job) grabs one to rub a little spot of dust off his new car... :shocking: :dunno: :willy_nil

I've only seen a few rolls in my life but if the owner does it its there own fault.. I've had those little bits of metal get stuck in my hand from the rags at school. It hurts.. especially when you get brake clean or other chemicals in the little cuts.

I stopped using fabric rags many years ago. They generally are poor at absorbing, wipe poorly, leave "lint" behind and sometimes leave color behind.

I use only Bounty Paper Towels in the shop. Just the home style on a roll, they are An excellent shop towel in almost every way.

I use the blue surgical towels. My wife is the charge nurse of a major hospital OR and brings them home anytime someone needs them.

It's true that if a pack is opened during surgery and only one is used, the rest go to the trash. They also have great packing material for surgical instruments that make great drop tarps for painting rooms, etc.

The only cloth rags I use are old, worn out clothes (beyond donation worthy) of my own. Otherwise, I use the blue 'paper' towels they sell at Costco. I toss out rags after use as I'm not going to leave something in the washing machine that ruins something of swmbo's. :scared:

Now, if we are talking car wash, wax, polish, etc. type towels, that is an entirely different matter. They do get reused after a good wash in detergent and microfiber cleaner. :D
