I just bought four of their socket strips from Summit Racing, and I'm really impressed. They are ~$25 each so not cheap compared with plastic or spring-steel strips. However they have a huge user advantage in that you can release a socket easily with one hand; just turn it 1/4 turn and it releases. They have a magnetic base, so stay put in the tool drawer.
These guys are a great alternative to Hanson or Ernst tool holders, really well made and IMO worth the pricetag.

Any chance you can put 1/4" or 3/8" socket holders into the 1/2" strips? Or 1/4 into the 3/8? I'm guessing no. I'd like to get some really nice rails like this, but be able to put all my torx or other special ratchet bits on the same rail.

I have the bit holder. Its nice, but like all magnetic stuff it gets fuzzy after a while (at least it does here)

Those are bad-***. They have a strong magnet on the bottom that's plenty strong enough to go through a drawer liner, so there's zero chance of them falling over when you open the drawer.

Actually you might be able to. They may all use the same aluminum extrusion as a 'chassis' I will check tonight. I also wonder if you can order extra holders. At a quick glance they appear to dis assemble with an endcap held with a single screw. When I loaded one of the 3/8s up, it still had room for 2-3 more at the end. The more the merrier.

The pegs can be interchanged and you can buy the additional pegs in bags of 25. I have some custom rails in my box that have all three sizes.

I have even cut some of the rails down to fit once I get my set on them.

they sell mechanics time savers on amazon in most colors. the hot pink is my favorite. i wouldn't hesitate to buy any of them.

i would really like it if snap on would sell the colored ones, seems to me they only sell the black wrench racks.

Mac wants $38.99 for the 1/2. Needless to say I put it back and politely let him know that was way out of line.

Yeah that's pretty much sums up how I feel about it. More than 1/2 their stuff is made in Taiwan. I hate it too cause they used to be pretty good and I like my Mac dealer.

ive been using these MTS socket holders for 20 years.
as merkava says, strong *** magnet, they dont fall over in my service truck, and ive never had a socket come out of any of them.

There's a model of the magnetic caddy that holds the shallow and deep 1/4's that's pretty nice. Blue Point also has a rebranded one in black or (I think red) in the catalog.

My SO driver has all the Mechanics Time Saver brands as opposed to the SO or BP re-branded so you don't have to pay the extra markup.
