That box at HD is pretty thin. I think its 20 gage. The HF is 18. The International also has the riveted slides. I'd go HF all day long.

Thank you James ! I didn’t think of looking at that. I was actually leaning towards the 52 inch @ depot because it’s bigger…
I’m so excited to give it to him! He is going to love it! Such a hard working and dedicated young man.

but
the HF cart would fit his situation much better! He needs a job and who knows where he will end up! A HF cart could even go into an apartment somewhere….

I’ve been looking at orange socket holders and wrench racks!

I have restored a bunch of boxes and tool carts and have always been able to get parts from the factory. Mac has always been the best at providing parts in my experience.

I restored a 1970's Cornwell tool cart, 40" and they sent me wheels and 4 pairs of slides no problem.

That is just my experience. If you can find a good Matco cart, I think those are the sweet spot for price and quality.
Do you happen to remember a model number or have pics of the cart or anything similar?

Just curious, I'm trying to imagine what this looked like and drawing a blank. It was a cart and not a box? Thanks

Man, I don't have any pics of it but it was a cart. I haven't seen another like it before or since.

I would not dismiss the Harbor Freight so quickly. Tool boxes is something they seem to have gotten very right. There is no way in hell one Snap-On is going to outlast 3 of the Harbor Freight. But, please buy the Snap-On as I'm an SNA shareholder.
