Is the Megapro Ratcheting drive gone forever? Out of stock everywhere, eBay has them listed for hundreds... I didn't even realize Megapro made NON ratcheting drivers, ordered one last week and was disappointed upon arrival... Klein 32305 looks very similar to the Megapro, may try that one.

Any thoughts?

Ebay sellers often raise their price to a super high level when they're actually out of stock or only have one left in order to prevent the listing from expiring before they are able to restock. None have sold at that price.

I'm assuming you aren't looking for their t-handled ratchet driver. The only straight handled Megapro ratchet driver I can't find available at all right now is the automotive one (211R1C36RD) that holds regular single ended 1" hex bits in the handle instead of longer double ended bits. It might be available as a re-brand with a different part number, but I'm not familiar enough with Megapro ratchet drivers to know everyone who re-brands them. My experience is mainly with Williams/Snap-on ratcheting drivers.

The Megapro 211R2C36RD, which has double ended commonly used hex bits stored in the handle is currently available re-branded (with different handle colors) as a Channellock 131CB on Ebay and on the Sears website.

It also appears that Groz Tools is selling a re-branded Megapro 211R2C36RD ratchet driver (part number 33713). There are no reviews of the item to verify that assumption, but several other websites selling the same Groz ratchet driver in Europe, do show Canada as being the COO. The Amazon listing linked below shows India as the COO, but Amazon posted COO's are wrong all the time. The Groz website seems to list all the same specs the Megapro site has for the ratchet driver, so I'm pretty sure you would be getting a re-branded Canada made Megapro.

If you want the Megapro filled with double ended security/tamperproof bits (211R2CTPRD) instead of common bits, there is one on Ebay right now and also one on Offerup.

Hope it helps. Good luck. If none of those options work, you might have to find another re-branded model or wait several weeks or more for Megapro to restock. It does appear they are still in business, so you should be able to source one eventually.

Dang, not even sure how you where able to dig up all that info, unless you just spent a ton of time manually searching. That said, I did stumble across the Channelock and Groz options, but both are priced significantly higher than what the Megapro is/was. Not a tool I use enough to justify the cost... To my knowledge, no direct competitor exists, though the Klein 32305 shares A LOT of similarities and is readily available. I am almost wondering if Klein bought the rights to the mecahnism from Megapro or something, and changed the looks of the handle? I don't really know... At any rate, I think I am going to try a Klein and see how it is.

The automotive one was the best, since it took the standard bits you can pickup from any hardware store... but that one seems to be gone possibly forever.

Thanks for the links and info!

I don't think they are going anywhere, but they do appear to be having some sort of production issues. My guess would be the supply chain. Their non-ratcheting drivers still seem to be widely available. I believe those are USA-made, while the ratcheting ones are made in Canada.

I hope they get back on track soon. Megapro ratcheting screwdrivers are awesome.

Here you go OP, in case you're still looking for one. Megapro automotive ratchet screwdriver for $37.75 plus about $8 shipping. I think this is the one you are looking for. Likely one of the best prices you will see for a while unless you happen to come across a used one for sale. Model 211R1C36RD. 5 currently in stock.

I just bought one of those myself. It's got a pretty good magnet, and the bit loadout is great, but can be easily customized. The shank is around half an inch longer than the regular double-ended ball-detent version, but the handle is identical. Mine didn't come in any packaging, just wrapped in paper.

That's a different ratchet handle (211R2C36RD). The ratchet handle you posted loads and stores longer double ended bits. That model isn't very hard to find for a good price. The OP wants the much harder to find mechanic model (211R1C36RD), which loads and stores regular 1" insert bits.

The statement of around $8 shipping I posted previously (for the HarryEpstein link) was what their site said shipping would cost based on the OP's location (Morehead City, North Carolina). Shipping will be different from that number for anyone else.
