I have been considering using a product by PPG called MegaSeal. From my research it appears to be a superior product to the basic floor coatings out there and is available in any color you want.

Anyone have any experience or insight they want to share about this product?

Superior how, and what do you consider a basic floor coating?

Oh, I forgot to say welcome.

I would consider anything from a heavy duty paint listed and labeled for use on a garage floor all the way up to the average low cost epoxy products like rustoleum or any other you can buy at the big box stores.

What is your experience with MegaSeal?

first, anyone labeling epoxy as a "heavy duty paint" would concern me. epoxy is not a paint.

Some MegaSeal products are .... OK...

Which products are you looking at? There are many products with the MegaSeal name... What product numbers are you looking at?

Ahhh... That is a product where you will have to mix a fine aggregate into it to get strength. The additive is basically just Sand (which they call quartz) and talc. It really wants to be at least 30 mils... They call it 100% solids sometimes but it isn't really. You can tell because the VOC is not 0. This product is probably going to be fine for a garage. It's very basic technology.

No, there is no fine aggregate to add for strength.

Maybe you are thinking of the anti-skid additive that is basically like sand but that is optional and has nothing to do with the strength.

Again, the product code for the epoxy is 99-6600.

There are 3 applications being recommended to me by PPG.
1. MegaSeal water base primer (clear)
2. MegaSeal SL/HB epoxy (any color)
3. Amourshield urathane (clear)

I have 3 kits of that in my garage right now that Im going to put down as soon as my project car is finished. I was told that its fine to put down without a primer. I plan on stripping the old paint off and putting it down on the fresh clean cement. Do you need to prime first ? How much is it to buy in your area ? My garage is 22 x 30. The kits are in a 5 gal pail. I think it mixes up to less. Will I have enough ? This is my first time using a product like this.
