How are you melting it?Anyone have a good strategy to avoid melting holes in pressure washer hose? I’ve done this twice now and would like to not do it again.
Here’s my machine with its new hose
I end up pulling it against the exhaust. It seems like it only takes a second to melt the outer covering of the hose then it blows out. Though it could be that it is minutes and I just don’t realize it.How are you melting it?
Are you taking it all off the carrier?
Take it off and pull it straight. Set the pump so you don't have the hose wrapped around the exhaust.
Unless I'm missing something. Bu then again I've never melted the hose...

It is definitely user error.I can't see how you're bending it that tight...
Sounds like user error in hose routing/pulling
Good idea. Easy and seems like it would help. i think I’ll add a sleeve of garden or heater hose too.Ziptie the hose to that upright that it looks like it's touching?
This is more work but also more idiot proof. I think I’ll do this if I melt this new hose.Use expanded steel to make a muffler guard with a good space around the original muffler
Here is your new hose reel set up OP…I've done it once by pull in the hose and it touched the exhaust. My fault for stretching the hose all the way out and pulling on it.
Maybe look into a hose reel setup. Otherwise as mentioned route it so it can't touch the exhaust.

Have any header wrap ?Good idea. Easy and seems like it would help. i think I’ll add a sleeve of garden or heater hose too.

Or maybe lower it to the deck height instead of right up by the exhaust. I try to use mine so I'm pullin it forward, so maybe extend it to the front of the deck at the same time?Install a 90 deg. elbow at the connection to the pump and turn the hose to the rear?
I don’t have any header wrap. I had headers on my CJ for a lot of years but got tired of replacing gaskets. Plus they probably don’t help much on a low rpm amc motor.Have any header wrap ?
Honestly, I would change the fitting so the hose goes out the back rather the side.
I looked but I haven’t found 90 degree fittings for the pressure washer to be very available or inexpensive.Like others have said….Reroute the hose away from your exhaust. Fittings are a lot cheaper than replacing the hose
Go to a hydraulic hose shop. Should be able to find what you needI don’t have any header wrap. I had headers on my CJ for a lot of years but got tired of replacing gaskets. Plus they probably don’t help much on a low rpm amc motor.

I doubt there is any engineering going into these cheap tools. It's a few standard parts slapped together in a factoryAlthough I agree it is ALSO user error in that one has to be cognizant of the design and limitations, especially given how close the design makes the hose outlet to the exhaust, but I also think it's sucky of them to design it that way to begin with - like could they not have designed it with the hose outlet pointing in the opposite direction? Is there some kind of design limitation?
I'm not a pro pressure washer user - the only one I had was a Craftsman gas years ago, and I recall the outlet was nowhere near the exhaust of the engine. IIRC the engine was mounted above the pump, and the outlet of the pump was at the front and below the engine (with the engine exhaust being to the side).
My last pressure washer was designed the same way as this one and I agree, it isn’t ideal.Although I agree it is ALSO user error in that one has to be cognizant of the design and limitations, especially given how close the design makes the hose outlet to the exhaust, but I also think it's sucky of them to design it that way to begin with - like could they not have designed it with the hose outlet pointing in the opposite direction? thanks. I saw those but they seemed more costly than I expected for an elbow fitting. It made me wonder if I was missing something.Looks like you can get them for about 30 bucks, cheaper then the last time I bought a hose.
