My name is Bill and I live in western Oregon. I've been a member for a while, but haven't been posting, just reading the different threads.
Retired (early) member of the pipefitters with over 31 years of welding experience. I'm also a member of the boilermakers just working part time at nuclear power plant maintenance shutdowns. I only work about 2 to 3 months a year, at these plants, and it's to pick up extra money for a few toys and tools that I get.
I also teach pipefitter apprentice classes 2 nights a week, which is fun and helps keep me in the loop of new practices coming into the construction field. I also have my own small welding shop at home and do tube binding for a few of the local race track drivers here, and a have a JD2 Model 3 hydraulic bender with 8 different sets of dies to cover most all of their needs. The shop is set up to do carbon, stainless steel and aluminum welding and repair. Just starting to build my own mini-sandrail, powered with a 1000cc motorcycle engine. Since we have a few large sand dunes, on the coast, not far from me, I'm looking forward to spending quite a bit of time, in the summer, playing with my machine.
For relaxation, I scuba dive and like to visit the Florida Keys and Caribbean Islands for this. I'm not a cold water diver, like I use to be years ago. I make it a point to at least try to get to Florida twice a year, for some fun in the sun.
Other than all the above mentioned stuff, I'm just a retired welder, enjoying not having to get up every day early and working my **** off.
Looking forward to reading about projects being built and some tricks and tips, from the members on this site. Also hope that I might be albe to pass on some info and experience, if needed.
