Got a private message today from a member who offered to pay me to post messages for him on the board.

Is that just me or do a lot of people get these offers?

It would really mess things up if people started posting stealth advertisements to each other. I'm not a fan of the practice.

Another member had sent me a PM they recieved and I banned the spammer.

The spammers may be trying a new approach. I've made a few pre-emptive strikes lately knocking out about 40 spam accounts before they had a chance to post.

Please, please, do not respond to these PMs but report them or foward them to a Mod so we can take care of the situation. We appreciate when members can help us make the site smoothly.

Thanks guys.

"Pay you for business opportunity" Private message

When I logged on this morning I had a PM from someone with a 0 post count saying they wanted to pay me to post on internet forums. Obviously it's some kind of scam or something. But isn't there a filter on this forum where you can't send PMs without 10 or so posts? I didn't think someone with zero posts could send pms.

I've never gotten a spammy PM, but every regular post has a "report" button at left under the poster's name and stats. I once had the pleasure of reporting a spam message ONE MINUTE after it was posted. In a couple more, it had been deleted.:rocker:

Spam for sure (as in inappropriate to this forum) but not necessarily a scam. There are outfits that pay people to post phony reviews online to pump up or pull down products as the case may be. And they really do pay for work you really do, so it's not a scam.
... on the other hand, what they're paying you to do is fraudulent...

OK, it's a scam.

Sounds like you moderators are onto it. I was pretty shocked that someone would ask me If you read any of my posts, you'll quickly find out I don't have much influence on folks here.

It would mess things up pretty bad if folks started stealth spamming stuff.

We have had an influx of new members and many are trying to post **** or drugs or pay you to post. No one has taken up the offer and I suggest you do not as more than likely we will find it to be some sort of scam so either way you will lose out.

The report button is the best way to deal with it please.
