Nothing I need bad enough to stand in that line that runs all the way around the entire store.

Actually, I like separate threads like this. I hate trying to keep up with superlong permathreads.

Paul really likes to advertise and manage his threads. I was scolded earlier for cross-posting between two :)

Wouldn't mind the $10 shop vac and maybe a few handtools, but nothing i want to stand un line for.

Maybe I will show up after the mad rush is over and see what's left.

Ishi: I'm an engineer. Just trying to be efficient. It is how we are. (We often drive people completely bonkers who are not fellow engineers, especially accountants or managers!)

I guess we'll just start a new thread for everything then! We'll soon have 5000 threads on this forum and no one will be able to find anything again ever after posting to one! And what is the purpose of the permathread then?!- Paul

I plan on picking up that log splitter on Friday. Looking for a couple of those FatMax tape measures also.

Menards is not around by me but from the flyer it looks like low quality weird tools mixed with dicks sporting goods, the christmas tree shop, and toys are us all rolled into one. Never heard of WEN generators before.

Ha ha! YES, that pretty much sums up Menards. You left out food though. It is almost like a cross between Meijer or Walmart and a Home Depot but better deals and prices on similar stuff than any of those on a regular basis. There is goodness in the weirdness though. Favorite home type store in many of the communities where Menards exist as there are always some deals or freebies there. This BF ad is nowhere near as good as last years, but there are still some good things, depending on the needs or wants one has. - Paul

Not all of us engineers would try to control the posting habits of those on a public forum, then proceed to have a fit when people don't respond kindly to being told what to do.

I think it's less efficient to put it in that thread. This way it caught my attention and alerted me that it was out and this thread is only focused on the ad, not other Menard's items.

That is, until you made it less efficient by scolding people over starting a new thread. That took it off track and led to this inefficient discussion. :D

Multiple threads it is. Paul just tried to keep things tidy. He has already given in as he commented to the new thread. Lets enjoy this week, should be a good one with BF and all the deals

Guys: Whatever you all want to do is fine!

Ishi and I have known each other a long time, no worries. It is sounding to me like "permathreads" or general threads to cover a store or brand is not desired here. We could just kill the permathread completely then if you prefer and do a new thread for every new deal that comes up. It would be nice if there was a better way to organize various threads on these message boards, but other than making a few stickies, there isn't any other way to organize on this type GJ forum. Some other boards on other websites CAN let you have subheadings under more major headings, which help the organization. For instance, you could have a Lowes major heading, and all the Lowes threads could go under that. Etc. This one does not and thus the discussion. I am just trying to help. Enjoy your new thread here! - Paul

Lead: I do consider YOU to be quite rude. Good day to you and your contribution here! I was asking Ishi a question. YOU are trying to CONTROL and limit that discussion and have a fit about it. Not me. - Paul

Should be plenty of scaffolding left without standing in line. I picked up 3 sets last year. Most of the crazys are there to buy all the **** the Menards sells this time of year. :headscrat

Permathreads are fine for the common deals that pop up in a store.

But when it's a big event like this I think it's easier to put it in its own thread rather than have it mixed in with lots of other things in a permathread.

Back on the original topic,

Nothing in this tickles my fancy too much. I was amped when I saw the cheap 10-piece set of Gearwrenches. Then I noticed it's a mixed SAE/Metric set. Bummer. That's no use. :(

Ok, we'll keep the permathread for the normal weekly sales talk then. For BF or super clearance things (like the one a few months back on the great GW stuff), we can do separate threads as people desire. Looks like we have several already now, need HD still if anyone wants to get it ready. Lowes appears to be out now.

I agree, this years sale doesn't look that great, but a few little things were ok to me. Depends if you need anything or not. Good deal on that logsplitter or a kayak! - Paul

I see about 20 items there worth getting, especially the $16.99 gear wrench set. Last year they did a better job with lines, I never even stood in one. They blocked the store off in sections, nobody went to the far section, they all stayed in the first one...I just walked right up and was next in line...definitely going, i'm out of peanuts in the shop and the jumbo bags at menards are a must stock...

That's one of the things I noticed... people went through the Made in China **** like $4.99 Android tablets and **** and left the expensive tools/etc. which were a huge value.

I am hoping the same holds true of the log splitter.

It's all I want, so I figure a "quick" in-and-out compared to most of the people! :shocking:
