Oh almost forgot. One more killer deal this week. I saw some 6 gallon deck sealer with stain added, cedar color, for all of $10 after a $30 rebate. It is NWP brand here:

May not be the best but for those needing to protect/stain anything exterior in cedar, quite a deal. Can get as many as you want. Not sure if other stores have these or not, but worth asking about it if you need exterior stain. - Paul

Menards has 6x6x14' AC2 treated timbers on sale for $33.37, regular price $52.97. All of the other sizes are a few cents to a few bucks off, but for some reason that size is nearly $20 off.

YMMV, but Menards is clearing out these Mug Bosses by Bucket Boss. It's sort of gimmicky, but these will make great gifts and could be tossed in if you participate in the Secret Santa here. I bought 10 of them, stocking stuffers, give for contractors I work with, etc., and it will look cool on my bench mug that holds sharpies, etc. Only 99cents, can't find them online anywhere cheaper. Works best with a tall mug.

Check your store location online for stock. Shows 47 stores have them.

I hate their stinking rebates. Just give me the damn sale price then and there. Maybe.....just maybe....I don't wanna use that rebate voucher to purchase more menards merchandise. Give me a break.

I generally hate rebates too, but I find the Menards approach pretty easy, where you can mail them all in at once in the same envelope, and don't have to jump through any hoops at all, just slap a mailing label on the rebate form, write in an email address, throw in the rebate receipt printed out for you special already, and away you go. I don't mind it at Menards, but I do try to avoid rebates elsewhere whenever I can. For locals though. I think if you didn't have a local menards, the rebates would probably be annoying. - Paul

Not sure why Menards merchandise checks are a problem.

It's a big-assed home improvement store. You're going to eventually want to buy something else from there.

It'd be like getting a rebate on gas from Shell instead of a sale price. Nothing wrong there...you're gonna need gas!

You see, what they're doing by giving you an in store rebate is defraying the cost of that rebate. In essence, they give you $11 off $100, and while you have $11 to spend, there's margin built into that new purchase. Let's say you bought something worth $25 with your rebate, so you pay $14. Now from Menards perspective, they've got about 30% of selling price into it, so $7.50. They made money off you the first time, THEN defrayed their cost by selling you another item with margin built in. Even if you purchased an $11 item getting it "free", that item likely cost Menards no more than $3 or $4 actual dollars. It's a great marketing scheme and works well for both parties.

Not to mention that rebates help sell items, and then many of them are never actually mailed in.

It's a way for them to offer great prices. Sure it's inconvenient, but it's saving you more money.

Exactly. Breakage allows for a you to get a bigger discount. The people that don't send in the rebates subsidize those that do.

The 41" top/bottom tool box went on sale today for $768. Is that pretty much the best deal you're gonna see or is there usually something later in the holiday season or maybe tax time?

Agreed, normally hate rebates but I can live with Menards (although other stupid stuff like charging for online order still makes me purchase less stuff there - their loss).

I use the rebates almost exclusively on "FAR" items so I essentially invested $40 up front and keep using the rebate money to buy other "FREE" items. Occasionally buy items that are $1-2 after rebate where I've saved $5 or more.

I'd never buy something with a smaller % of total price rebate BECAUSE of the rebate, but if I wanted that item I probably have those FAR items I'm sending in anyways :)

I did pick up the thermal underwear for $6.99 this morning for hunting. Woot!

It seems like last year around this time they had all their tool chest on sale... even the 72" on sale for $999. That price on the 41" will come around again if you want to wait. I bought mine when they had 11% rebate on gift cards. I love Menards rebates.

Scheme......that's what it is and why I hate them. They are a big enough company they could have a sale price without a rebate. Its nothing more than a marketing gimmick.....yeah it saves me a few bucks and it saves menards a little too. When its all said and done I feel a little used.....plain and simple. Wanna make me feel better about Menards rebates? Then send me a check that I can cash. Then I can use that cash to purchase goods from our towns last locally owned hardware store. Don't get me wrong, I loved the gearwrench closeout prices and most of menards pricing is pretty good too, but money talks ******** walks.......and menards rebates are ********.

I saw a few of these 72in carts in the garden center the other day. My brother works there and figured they are for black friday. They didn't have them in the system yet.

We all feel very sorry for you for having such a terrible first-world problem. Poor guy...saving a bunch of money at Menards with very good rebate deals.

"I hate these free after rebate bolt cutters!"

"I hate this Masterforce rebrand of the Craftsman Nextec drill and impact driver with extra battery for $50 after rebate!"

"I hate this Porter-Cable impact driver that was $20 after rebate!"

You know, my mother-in-law spent $10 on dish soap in 1998, using the address of each of her kids to get multiple rebates past the household limit. She claims that she's been recycling the same money into dish soap every time the free after rebate deal comes up on it. That original $10 (plus a couple of stamps each year) has ended up buying dish soap for 16 years and counting. She has more than she knows what to do with. I'm sure she's telling the truth, because she occasionally brings a few bottles of it by our house.

I'm not sure that she feels very "used." :wtf:

I bought mine years ago when it was on sale AND the 11% off was going on too.
