I remember that day. It was a good day. Wish I would have realized they were actually going to honor it all combined in advance and prepared a little more. I put $10000 on gift cards when they let those go for 11% off in anticipation of a large project. Redeemed them under another 11% sale for a serious materials discount.

YES, it was a good day!!

I only put about $500 on the gift card deal when it happened. That lasted me almost a whole year! But had I known they wouldn't do it again since, I would have put more on it.

New sale looks pretty good. I'll have to stop in. - Paul

Anyone see the Made In America flyer? Any good deals? I've been meaning to get a few more 12ga extension cords to run my power tools, are those Flexzilla and Smart Electrician models descents you priced?

Yes, noticed the big gauge electrical cords are on nice sale. Yes, Smart Electrician is fine. I have several. Every homeowner should use a 12 gauge extension cord for outdoor use, not anything smaller than that. High amp tools can fry without enough current to drive them when using off a small gauge electrical cord like 16 gauge or even 14 for longer lengths. - Paul

Flexzilla is worth the extra couple bucks over Smart Electrician.

Outdoor, I want to take you back inside the space in your head for just a moment! :lol_hitti What is better about the Flexzilla ones? I don't have any of those, but do like the SE ones a good bit. While perhaps not pro level quality, they are made in USA which I love, and I've had no problems of any sort with several I got a few years back. Thx- Paul

The forstners did not seem any cheaper than buying the 14-piece set if not were more expensive, plus it puts them all in a serviceable (but not great) case.

When Lowes cleared out the 14-piece sets, THAT was a hot deal. :)

the blue box, the orange box, and sears, whenever there is a closeout, the stores around here never have anything. methinks the employees grab all the deals.
but, thanks for the tip, i'll have to do the math, and check my 'inventory' to see which way i'll go on the bits.

The Champaign IL store had a bunch of those a few days ago. RRich1 may have just cleaned that store out.

I was guessing your location as Du page county IL.
I just grabbed what I needed. They will last me quite a while for my uses. [emoji2]

Conversely, I do not own a Smart Electrician extension cord but have just been impressed with the 100' 14-3 Flexzilla. I purchased mine two years ago when they first came to market, both needing a replacement extension for my Stihl line trimmer and wanting to support Legacy's investment in American manufacturing at a time when USA made Smart Electrician was in short supply. The jacket has remained super pliable and the molded ends have proven to be very impact resistant. Coleman Cable (CCI), the main supplier for domestic Smart Electrician cords along with Cerro, does manufacture contractor cords sold under Smart Electrician Pro that are definitely comparable.

There are some nice looking cords in the Smart Electrician lineup but it's a mixed bag.

I got one of each size available. There were still at least 4 left of each one except a single size that I got the last of. I need to look at the receipt again but when I totaled it up in the store I thought it was something around 46$ total. Seemed like a fair price for that many forstner bits. The biggest one they had was 2-1/8" I think. I'm ok not getting a case also, I'm gonna put together something to try to organize more of my drill bits because I've got several other sets in plastic cases that are shattered and need a better permanent home.

I may get a couple of those forstners myself in sizes I don't have, but hoping they go a bit cheaper first. As said here, a full set of forstners may be cheaper than these clearance prices so far for the normal sizes at least. I need to see which ones I can use on either end of my set I have... - Paul

Does anyone know if they will be extending the 11% Rebate again tomorrow?

All the porter cable deep cut hole saws are $1.99 each. Same price for all sizes.

Edit: Also seeing some masterforce ratchets and sockets getting moved to the clearance section. No markdowns yet but I would keep an eye out for more.

The 10x10x8 "Peak Top Shelter" for $120 + $20 Rebate looks like a nice deal if the shed is decent? (Not ShelterLogic Brand) SKU: 1934879

Newest ad also has FREE after rebate COO China cotton shirts and 6 packs of 75% cotton socks, mens or womens. You can get up to 5 shirts and up to 5 of the 6 packs of socks, various styles. This is a great deal !! Not going to be quite Hanes in quality (like their occasional free Menards advertisting shirts are), but a great deal none the less. I often mess up working shirts so just use these as disposables until they get killed. Great deal. - Paul

Menards has the Gearwrench 1/4 drive flex head 84t ratchet for 14.99. Pretty good deal. I could not find it on their site but saw it in store. Looks like Gearwrench is replacing USA made Masterforce as the premium tool brand at Menards. Same ratchet is 33.00 on Amazon and 23 on Tooltopia. 81012F is the part number.

My store doesn't seem to carry that. Possible YMMV on this one but worth checking for it if interested. My store also still has all the MF stuff and not being replaced by GW, at least yet. - Paul

Maybe. This was in Sandusky Oh. There was still some MF but it looked like it was slowly being replaced by Gearwrench. Looks as though when a particular socket size or wrench sells out it gets replaced by a Gearwrench equivalent. There was a metric MF USA made flare nut wrench set and a Taiwan made Gearwrench flare nut set next to it. Both were the same price.

In one of the local stores the masterforce made in USA banner above the tool section had been covered over by one that said masterforce/gearwrench. I am hopeful that it is just apex's way of pacifying menards since they had to be a little worked up over all the empty spots. Some items had been missing for six months before that. Once they finally get their supply problems worked out I am hopeful that everything will be back to normal.

I picked up one last week in Central IL. Nice ratchet.

Same with the one I was in. The ratchets are actually an improvement over the Masterforce. Even if they are imported. This 1/4" drive ratchet is a bargain at 14.99. I didn't need another ratchet but for that price it's almost a no brainer.

Hate to say it, but I'm betting that Masterforce is getting replaced with GW. Some of the items are mixed on pegs, so it looks like once the MF is gone, it's gone.

It never felt like the Masterforce hand tools sold very well. The transition to Gearwrench seems more gradual this time around, the complete opposite of the previous Masterforce/Gearwrench closeouts before they introduced Crescent. I'm not especially keen on Masterforce hand sockets or ratchets but I would hate to see all of those affordable Pratt-Read screwdrivers take an exit.

Maybe I don't wonder into enough places, but who carries a full open inventory of Gearwrench tools for easy, same-day warranty exchanges?

Advance Auto Parts carries a good lineup of GW stuff, but some people have reported that they'll ask for a receipt for warranty.

Most of the Apex-made MF stuff is dusty in my local stores, but it was the last holdout for USA-made tools at decent prices from a big-box. I'm sure it didn't sell well, and from a business standpoint it makes sense.
