What's up with menards and only doing 11 percent off. This *****!

Menards was facing a lot of pressure in late March/early April to stop their weekly ad to attract fewer customers to their stores. Menards decided to run 11% for weeks instead of their normal weekly ads.

Menards is planning to restart their weekly ads on June 7th.

I am expecting 11% to go away for a while since it has run for so long.

All that matters is, what is the final out of pocket or to the door. Other stores just lump it in the overall price for everyone whether they shop at the store or online. And no matter because their prices are usually higher than Menards. Look at the bottom line, sometimes one store is better than the other on pricing on different items or categories of items. Figure that at and you'll have little to ***** and cry about.

Menards is going to start their weekly newspaper advertising again this upcoming Sunday. While I have no inside knowledge of what is in the ad, it is most likely not going to be 11% next week since they have been doing 11% for the past two months.

I would suggest if you want to buy with the 11% rebate that you make your purchases by Saturday.

And you will see a lot less 11% sales the rest of the year. Max is 25 weeks in a year, otherwise the 11% off would be considered normal pricing, and they would end up in doo-doo with retail regulators

11% percent off again. I have not been shopping at menards due to this.

So you've been going to Lowes and HD and paying full price and not getting 11% back? This mentality cracks me up...HD and Lowes never have anything on sale and they don't have a rebate...But "I'm mad at Menards because they will only offer me 11% instead of 30 piece drill bits for $5.99."

If you want to hate on Menards, at least do it for the right reasons...But not for giving you 11% back.

Not shopping because they have stuff on 11% sale?? I'm lost. Someone should look at what the normal "sale" percentage is, maybe around 15% probably, depending on the item of course. Also here where I am Lowes is waaaay overpriced compared to Menards. We don't have a Home Depot either so Menards always gets my buisness.

Same here, the Lowe's is a lot higher than Menard's. There is also a Home Depot but no one seems to shop there. The Menard's usually has more cars than both the others combined. The Menard's here has been doing more business in the last two months than they have in a long time. I know a couple of guys that work there and they say they don't see this even near Christmas.

I have a Lowes and HD like 7 mins from my house. They just built a Menards a little farther right next to my grocery and bank. It was scheduled to open last month but obviously got postponed. Once it opens I'll be seeing the other two far less. Gotta cash in on that 11% rebate after all. LOL

This is an old pic, but what I'm talking about...

I worked for Menards. The 11 percent off is a worse deal than a regular sales ad. In the meantime I just purchase from other online places or the other big 2. Also, not fond of the quailty that comes out of Menards and I'm ok paying a tad more.

It cracks me more up more people won't benchmark the same or similar product online.

Yes, the sales flyers can be cheaper than 11%, but then you have to wait and hope the item(s) you want to buy are on sale that week. This time of year is typically heavy on sales on lawn and garden items. If you happen to be doing an electrical project nothing might be no sales for weeks on those items.

Menards also likes to do the old drop the price by 50 cents or a dollar and call it a sale when the savings is hardly anything and certainly not 11%.

I always check online for things that make sense to buy online, but Home Depot and Menards can often beat online prices. Sometimes you don't want to wait for online shipping to finish a project so you just pay the extra to get the project done.

I was correct that Menards had an ad in the newspaper today, but I was wrong when I figured they would not extend the 11% another week.

Meh.. you also gotta wait for a product to go on sale that you want. I'm remodeling a bathroom right now.. this 11 percent has been a dream. You might wait weeks or months for drywall you want to go on sale say 13 or 14 percent off.. I'll take the 11 if I want or need it now.

I'm confused why people complain that it's in the form of a store credit. When you go back and use it they can't charge you sales tax on it...That's 7%.

You pay sales tax up front though. It ends up being a wash on that front.

I really wasn't expecting them to go another week, they're not going to be able to run 11% much at all for the second half of the year! It's worked out ok for me though, we've been buying a lot of stuff that doesn't frequently go on sale.

The point is, if you get a rebate in the form check, VISA or gift car, you will pay tax on whatever you purchase with those. The Menards in-store check is the only one I've ever seen that you don't pay tax again when you buy something with it.

Time to stock up on BraKleen. It used to be $2.49 when you bought 6 or more without any sale prices or rebates. And then you could throw the rebate on it too. If I recall it's like $6 regular price for some members at their local stores or something.

You can get the FVP brand of ... brake cleaner for like 1.69 when its on sale..

But the FVP isn't even close to CRC Brakleen. I've used them both on the exact same tasks and even side by side. Not to mention the difference between a 16 and 19 ounce can, the CRC is nearly a 19% more...All things considered it's a $0.02 per ounce increase (11 cents/13 cents) for the superior and more effective cleaner. And more effective means you use less.

It's like Bounty paper towels...Sure they cost more than the store brand, but you use one sheet instead of 3 to dry your hands.

Are we talking chlorinated or non? I use non chlorinated, as I like the drying effect, and I've never noticed a difference between brands as long as the VOC percentage is the same. As far as chlorinated I could see there being a difference

Are people getting their rebates in a timely manner? I really have no idea what's normal, but I mailed in some rebates many weeks ago now and it's not even showing up on their rebate status site. That may be completely meaningless and I suspect there are probably more rebate filings now than ever before.

I have no proof, but is seems like they have been running the 11% a lot this summer, so the people who process the rebates are probably pretty damn busy!

The sale price is good enough for me. The extra $20.90 back in rebate is just bonus.

Every time I open this thread I hope for a hot deal, but it's always 11% discussion. I wish Menards would be more exciting.

I checked the rebate tracking site this morning and the rebates I mailed in late June/early July are now showing up, so at least they weren’t lost. I figure I’m only about ten grand away from a free 56” Masterforce toolbox.
