Menards is stepping up to the plate with their toolboxes. Not only do they have the red and the blue boxes, they now have side lockers and they are also carrying steel tops and wood tops. I think that is excellent! :beer: They seem to be very well built boxes for the money. The green color was pretty much the main reason I didn't buy one when I was looking.

I don't remember his name but I know there will be at least one member here that might be a little PO'ed by this news. I saw his thread where he bought one of these boxes in green and went through the trouble of stripping it down and repainting it blue. A lot of extra work considering now you can buy them that way :eek2:

Plus they are on sale now, noticed the 56" top is clearanced at my Menards for $299, with the straight top not the curved better opening.

Can anyone confirm where these are made? I hated the green boxes but would consider the new ones in red if they are made in North America.

Good find. I keep looking at them but also can't get past the green. I have three guys in the shop have them. So far they are pleased. I'm waiting to see if they hold up to the test of time. If so I want to use some of them as a base for my stationary bench.

Best I could find.

Masterforce tool storage products are manufactured by Masterforce Florida for Menards home improvement stores, which own the Masterforce trademark. Menards stores can be found mostly in the Midwestern United States.

The older line was imported so I would expect these to be the same, but I've seen the old and the new next to each other and the construction is different. Dare I say lighter in weight and slightly cheaper feeling.

I think your right. Further digging looks like Masterforce
Florida is an import company for lots of items for Menard's.

I have three 41" bases, 2 side cabinets, and one 41" top box. I like them real well. They are built heavy. The only think I don't like is mine are all green, and I do not really care for the green color but am now stuck with it. I've gotten used to it but I'll be damned if that color ever grows on me. About the only green I do like is the bright Lime Green of the Snap-On boxes.

Oh, and BTW.....I have a piece of cardboard out here in my garage from the box that one of my bases came in. Right on the box it says "Made in China", so I would imagine that the new ones are also.

One other thing I just now noticed when I went to the link above, Menards bases are now 46" instead of the 41", all except the green base, but they still sell the top boxes in the 41" width in all colors. WTF is up with that I wonder? Although I do like to have a few inches beside a box when it is on a roller base.

You may just not have seen their whole line up, this page has them Clear as day in all colors

I'm in the minority I guess. I love the green. It's something different. I drool over those everytime I'm in the place.

I'm not a fan of that shade of green, maybe a dark green would work. It is nice to see a company having more offerings in the tool box section.

Maybe somebody from Menards is watching GJ and listening ?

I wish Menards was in NC. Last time I was IL during the holidays I was trying to figure out how to get the large black Masterforce box with the green chrome handles home. I'll see if I can dig up a pic.

I have the older style 26" combo and I've been very happy with it. The new stuff is nice, but I was able to get a combo and a side cabinet on clearance for the price of just a new combo.

IIRC there was another thread about the Menards boxes and I'm fairly certain that Montezuma and MasterForce are two complete different boxes and the companies have nothing in common.

Compare their 72" boxes. With the exception of one drawer being two drawers deep on the Masterforce, the boxes are identical.

I've noticed the Masterforce, Montezuma, Viper, Extreme, and select Cman boxes all share some features. They all have the same slides on them. Some also share handles. I'm pretty convinced they are all being made in the same factory over in China somewhere.

Can't vouch for the box but the "limited lifetime warranty" sounds better than harbor freights 90 day warranty.

I've yet to see a Craftsman built as well as a Masterforce box. That's one reason I bought the Masterforce. I have a Craftsman 41" top box plus I gave my wife my Craftsman Roll-a-round and top box sh she can keep her tools in it and my boxes are built way better that the Sears boxes. For a China made box, I'm sold on them. They're not a S.O. or a Matco, but for a home box, you can't beat them. The only thing I hated was the green color and mine are all green. I've gotten used to it though. At least it's a green that possibly most thieves won't want to steal :lol:
