I have 6 of these in one of the stalls of my garage. They have about a 2 second delay after power is applied before they illuminate but other than that I like them. They are quite bright.

Even though they were designed to by hung, I ended up removing the diffuser, drilling, and then screwing through the metal to surface mount them. They don't feel all that warm so hopefully no degradation in the life of the fixtures.

Inside there are strips of LEDs. If they do fail, it may be possible to just get more LED strips to repair them.

Only had them for about a month so far.

HI,
LED lighting on sale at Menards this week. Here is a link to it http://www.menards.com/main/p-27904...le&utm_source=wishabi&utm_medium=flyer_hosted

Has anyone bought these and have experience with them? 3300 lumens at a 24.99 seems like a steal.

Thanks in advance for any insight you may provide!!

It's just me....but....
If they wont even say who the manufacturer is, I wont buy it.
It's cheap...I'll give them that!
But 3300 lumens at 41 watts isn't all that good.
But it's cheap....and who knows who made it.....

Nope.

Smart Electrician is the brand name, although that doesn't say much. I'm sure it's some Chinese company who sells them under a number of brand names.

I saw these on sale, but didn't pick any up. I have a bunch of $10 T8 fixtures to still put up. With how cheap these are I wasn't sure it would be an improvement over the T8s.

I have mine on switched outlets and they work fine.

Yes, made in China.

Yes, VERY cheap. I wanted to go LED for awhile but the cost was prohibitive. I like these a lot better than the cheap flourescent shop lights - no buzz, no worry about cold starts, more light than equivalent fluorescent.

LED replacements for fluorescent bulbs are now getting to where you could use them in an existing fixture for about the same price as these but I didn't like looking at the fluorescent bulbs and I suspect looking directly at an LED replacement might be just as bad.

Your mileage may very but for the cost I thought they were worth trying and in the end I'm quite happy with them.

Do you happen to have any pictures of your lights installed? My friend is thinking of picking up 6 of these for his garage that currently has 2 incandescent bulbs in it.

Within the theme of comparing 2 remarkably cheap (in every way) shop light products, the typical fluorescent will win the lumen output and likely even the efficiency war against this one. 80 lm per watt is pretty sad for a consumer grade LED fixture.

For general fluorescent comparison, ishiboo posted below links in another thread:

Here you go.

This is the third stall of the house garage that is currently getting a makeover after moving a bunch of stuff to the new shop.

Lights are spaced 2' out from the wall with the intent of both lighting future cabinets as well as to bounce light off the cabinets into the stall. There is a 6th light on the other side of the attic ladder. The 6 lights are the only lighting that was on in the garage when I took the picture so you can judge for yourself how bright they are.

BTW: That is a 22' section and I took the picture about 8' in back of that in what used to be my shop.

This space is going to be mostly for parking motorcycles and I keep thinking about making it a motorcycle shop with a motorcycle lift. With just these lights on there are a few light shadows but there is plenty of light to work.

My plan is to get rid of that clutter under the return vent (vent goes to the new shop - not the house) using enclosed cabinets ala Aussie Dan http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186358

Smart Electrician is Menards house brand. The supplier is whoever was cheapest when they ordered a bunch. You're not going to find brand name LED shop lights for $25 a piece.

I want to try some but no inventory in my immediate area.

Great lights, picked up 16 of them for $25 each when they were on sale. For the price and being LED cant complain. So what if its a cheap Chinese light, it still works great and most things we buy now a chinese made.
