For those of you maybe on the fence about the Kobalt mini tool boxes, Menards has their Performax version for $7.99 after rebate. Only available in black, but beats the $20 or so that Lowes wants for the Kobalts. Good through 09/08/24

FYI rebate can only be used in store, I don't have a local store so I can't use it. Maybe I can pass it on somehow. Four boxes with shipping is $54.** for me, so $13.50 each, which is still cool.

I have a similar tool box on my desk at work. I keep a number of smaller items in it. There is also a small block Chevy, bare block, business card holder sitting next to it.

They are good for quite a few things if you don't get stuck on putting full size tools in it.

I 3D printed trays to organize all my MIG and TIG stuff. Under the lid I have a small square and some markers/pencils/scribes and a couple small punches and chisels.

I'm thinking it'd be good for keeping precision/inspection/other small stuff in one place(extra calipers, 1-2-3 blocks, mag base, indicator, mics, torque adapter, extra taps and dies etc). Or maybe electronic and soldering related stuff that don't go in a toolbox. Local Menards shows a bunch in stock.

I kinda wanted one shipped to Knoxville, TN but shipping brought the cost to $19xx, easier for me to just go get the Kobalt at $20.

That’s the one thing about Menards, their shipping to home is a little pricey.

They have really good deals through their emails on occasion though if you do have a store close. My OEM tools Mechanics seat was $49.99 with free ship to store. Amazon had it for $99.00

yup, they're great to mount onto tool benches of all sorts. Cheaper than the drill bit dispenser boxes too. HF carries a series of dividers of all sizes that could work w/these.

I bought one for my wife and one for myself. I've been looking for something to keep calipers, etc. in.
