Bought a set for working on something at my parents house, they were garbage. Bulky and cheap. Sold them for $10 on Craigslist immediately after. For home use the harbor freight ones are much nicer, or spend a bit more for sunex.

Tool shop is chinese garbage. Look for Taiwan/USA Masterforce stuff at Menards.
Avoid the performax too.

Yep; In the dime store price range; HF is a good choice for impact sockets, etc.

A couple of the Performax tools are product before they brand stamp it for another 50$. Same thing as a Rigid, DeWalt , some of the Porter Cable or at least Ryobi type tools. I agree that tool shop stuff is kind of chincey but its cheap and does work if a guy isn't using it like a demolition hammer.

I got a set of those 1/2 drive in metric from HF for about the same money and they worked. I only use them a few times, not using them for tire shop service but as problem solvers on occasion and they worked well so far. I got an 18 heavy duty for suspension brackets on occasion but 99 times out of 100 I can use a common straight socket and do. They earner their keep when I needed them in a couple events. I might have used the 14, 15 and 19. At 28$ a set they didn't have to do much and they still work.

Love Menards for many things but the lack of posting reviews for so many of the proprietary items is a huge concern. I bought what looks like a nice water filling faucet (still sealed) and I'm actually thinking of returning it because I have no idea if its a POS or not.
