Merge threads

I know we have a lot of threads dealing with exactly the same topic, can they be merged or can we report them and have them deleted? I see people linking to other threads, but then people keep posting in the new thread. I feel like another idea would be to have a good tutorial on how to use the search function. It took me a while to understand you can use - " and I am sure other symbols to make your search better. It ***** when you search and the search returns hundreds of threads that have nothing to do with what you are looking for.

Then you should study up on Boolean searches.

So is it constant across all searches or are there limitations? I guess I thought it was specific to the site, most times it seems that way. Basically if we had a sticky with the symbols to use that may cut down on the people who want to try. It will never cut down the idiots that need LMGTFY. I just did not realize that it had a name. It is consistent. You can use the Boolean symbols on eBay, CL and forums as well as search engines. You're welcome although I don't think you cared for my input so much.

And FWIW, eBay removed functionality of an entered asterisk symbol in searches, but includes results with the search term within them.
