Are you surprised that a Chinese or other foreign made product is being marketed to appear as American made? That goes on everywhere. American Eagle clothing stores probably don't have anything made in USA. Walmart has a disclaimer on their web site saying things marked "made in USA" may not be, to any great extent. Generally most products with extensive patriotic packaging are most likely not made here.

6PTsocket, I read your post and then went t the Walmart site to find the disclaimer. I couldn't find one, but it's a pretty large site, so would you point me toward where on the Walmart site that disclaimer is? Thanks.

I just found it with no trouble to see if it was hard to find. Go to Walmart.com, select any product, scroll down to the disclaimer. I think I typed inpact wrench and clicked on a Bosch but I have seen it many times.

So i spotted this on Ebay today. Merican vise grips made in China.
I don't see any words saying "Vise Grips" in the ad copy?

NEWS FLASH

It'd be easier (and far more interesting to GJ readers) to report authentic 'Made in USA' tool items from the store shelves?
just wow.... ppl are just now waking up to fact that whole manufacturing / industries have been outsourced & shipped out?
This didn't just happen overnight that boat sailed some time ago.

either that or just another 'Merica tool troll thread

"Important Made in USA Origin Disclaimer: For certain items sold by Walmart on Walmart.com, the displayed country of origin information may not be accurate or consistent with manufacturer information. For updated, accurate country of origin data, it is recommended that you rely on product packaging or manufacturer information."

Quite frankly, that likely applies to the majority of internet retailers. I know i have seen people complain about items ordered from Sears.

That is true. Fajitas were invented in Texas and when I tried to order a bowl of chile in Mexico they never heard of the stuff.Ciopino and chicken Tetrazini are not really Italian but from California.

Somehow, I don't think those "Pittsburg" wrenches were ever in Pennsylvania.....

i had a guy tell me that they take american steel and ship it over to china, and the wrenches are made there to save taxes then shipped back into the country to be sold at harbor freight. said Pittsburgh was better than craftsman.

bought a ratchet from another guy. he pointed at the craftsman and said a dollar....then looked at a hf composite ratchet i had and said, "oh thats good stuff right there. gonna have to get 2 for that one"

I bought some adapters for my craftsman shop vac a couple years ago. On the inside of one of the adapters it said made in mexico and the out side said made in china. Then I checked the other two adapters in the kit. They were all like that. I was so confused on where they got made. LOL
