Merril Bros. vice Brooklyn NY

I got this vice about 10 years ago. It does everything I ask of it. I prefer the distressed paint so I keep it that way and wipe with a little oil now and then. My question is how is it supposed to be "pinned" for the swivel? Does anyone else have one and willing to post pictures? 99% of the time I keep it facing forward, and I use a couple of bolts stuck in the holes to lock it pretty well in place. I removed it from the bench yesterday, curious if maybe the base holes were tapped, but they are just a rough casting hole. If no one else has a better idea, I will reinstall it and enjoy it. Could be a simple pin or maybe something like the Prentiss patent with a spring loaded pin. I've seen a few with a bolt or pin, but don't know if that was original or just what the vise ended up with.

Looking thru the vise spreadsheet, all the vises appear to be missing the pin. One has an Allen bolt in the hole.
