Finally got to order the two tool boxs and rebuild my workbench...

This is before...

I got a total of three 55"x 24" Tool Vault boxes from Strictly Tool Boxes. Those guys are great. Took the time to talk to me...alot. I had a very complicated split delivery...and they were awesome.

They followed up and tracked the orders and stayed in constant contact with me...followed up on everything...

They pack there stuff great too. If your going to buy...use them.

I am still working on it...but here is some progress.

Due to complications from existing bench height...and power plugs...had to limit the height above boxes. I didn't want to sacrifice structural stiffness...so welded up a frame to support the top. Used 1 1/2" x 1x1/2"...1/4 wall tube...very stiff.

Used dried 2 x for top...shimmed and dead flat level...followed by 3/4" ply...not the cheap stuff...hard board on outside...

Everyone needs one of these. I was halfway through the build...saw they had them on sale on Amazon...got this beast...

Merry Christmas...wifey says...your welcome....

Nice bench, nice shop, and great view. I don't understand some guys on here who build shops and don't want windows. I like to see the outside world when I'm in my shop and not be inside a widow less box.

Nice job! If I had a view like that I would have put windows in my shop. Since there is nothing to view on any side of my shop and I wanted to minimize the ease of someone breaking into the shop and didn't want anyone window shopping the property in the shop I left the windows out.

I was concerned too...if you look in the photos you can see metal roll down security doors over the windows...they are custom made by a guy I found online in Nebraska or thereabouts...not all that expensive considering what they are protecting.

I also have cameras spread outside and inside as well. I am from the Bay Area where things have gone to hell and stealing here in Ca doesn't seem to be something the cops give a damn about. So I am out in the sticks now...and over protected.

I never thought of doing them on the inside and opted to not put windows in at bench height. You're making me regret that choice!
