Reading the details it's just a rebranded hitachi:

"Same tools. New name. Hitachi power tools has renamed to Metabo HPT"

It still has the five year warranty. I never saw any imports more than a year. Only 6 amps but good enough for hobby guys or with a sanding disc.
That $10.00 savings will buy wheels.
I have the real METABO's , my first is a 1979. Have a few of their 8.5 amp ones and their compact die grinder with variable speed. I love them.

Hitachi in a confusing and weird move changed their name to MetaboHPT in order to confuse people and ???
Anyway yes it is a hitachi grinder, great deal still. At this price point buying a couple and not swapping discs seems reasonable.

6amp doesn't have to be hobby territory. The overall quality and construction is more important.

People are assuming a 6 cylinder Yugo would be better than a 4 cylinder Honda merely because 6 is greater than 4

My FAVORITE (by far) grinder right now is a Fein rated at 6.7A. I use it light production in my machine shop and it does everything I ask from 5" grinding wheels to 3" wire cup brushes while being THE smoothest grinder I've EVER used

THIS IS THE WAY IT IS LISTED " Metabo HPT G12SR4 4-1/2" Angle Grinder'' . It's say METABO, I didn't false advertise. After you read their description it says '' Hitachi power tools has renamed to Metabo HPT''
It still states FIVE YEAR WARRANTY . I never saw a cheap tool with a warranty like this.

Still a great price. It's not much more money than a Harbor Freight el cheapo unit. It's probably way better than a HF one, I assume. Though I haven't ever tried a HF one.

Plus the HF one doesn't come with any wheels, case, accessories. If you guys want some Hitachi/Metabo HPT ****:

I guess Hikoki is the European version of the Metabo HPT tools we get here in North America. They didn't want to use the Metabo name for the formerly named Hitachi stuff in Europe, because Metabo tools are their premium line there and here too. I've heard great stuff about Hitachi tools. Granted, I've never tried any.

As others have said, Metabo HPT is Hitachi's new name. Metabo is also outsourcing more of their tools to china too (with some crossover chinese tools from Hitachi like their new impact driver). Good luck getting them to tell you where any of it is made though, they're very quiet whenever it comes to that type of question.

I don't purchase Metabo products anymore. Check out Fein if you want a smooth german made grinder.

I know it is not a true Metabo just a Hitachi, but it should be way better than my HF Grinder. I will probably just use the HF with a wire brush now. Never can have enough grinders, they are like woodworking clamps.

Mine should be here Thursday. I'll add to my collection of REAL METABO'S. My first Metabo is from 1979 and still going. Since then I added five more. The latest is the compact die grinder . It's my first variable speed one and it's great with wire brushes/wheels which is what I bought it for.

Just ordered one. I like that it comes with a case, as it will spend most of its time in there. Seems like a good buy as i will seldomly use it, but I do have a need for one from time to time.

4 plus years and over a thousand posts, yet you can't edit? Do you actually have 500 posts, with the rest being edits? :headscrat

Seems like this price is going to be the regular price, but I think if it truly is a decent unit, there should be a group buy to get the $22 price.

You need a 7” or a 9” grinder.

Why? What is different about a 7" grinder? How could one use a 4" grinder that would be abuse and cause damage?

I've had more issues with Makita in recent years, they don't seem to be the quality they once were.

Received mine today and it came WITH case and FIVE grinding wheels. Listing did say grinder only. Made in China which I figured, but worth it for $30.00

Listing did say grinder only.

Listing said grinder, wheels, and case, as noted earlier in the thread. It was only the grinder kit - the sawhorses were not included.

I received mine as well
For $30 it’s worth having another one.
I really hate having to swap wheels when doing a job so have several grinders is just fine with me.

Mine arrived, and I'm happy with it. I have a few grinders already, but having more just means not changing the disk as often.

The cord ***** - it's not as flexible as it should be, but the grinder works fine and is a great deal at $30.
