Hi Guys,

Got a bit of an issue requiring your expertise: I've got a Metabo WBE700 angle drill who has seen better days. What worries me the most is that it's squirting grease near the spindle (part 22 in the picture) which leads me to believe I am dealing with shot seals on the bearing (21)

Trouble is that I can't get the chuck (which is mounted on the spindle) off in order to have access to the 4 screws (19) holding everything together. From the parts diagram seems the spindle is threaded.

Any advice?

Usually there's a little (reverse threded!) screw on the inside of the chuck. Remove that one by turning clockwise. Next, put an allen wrench into the chuck, as you would with a drillbit and tap it loose with a hammer (normal thread, counter clockwise)

Spindle has 1/2-20 thread for mounting the chuck but what do you mean by 5mm hex if it hasn't got a locking screw?

Ok I got it, there is a 5mm hex hole in the middle of the spindle. Not I have to find a 5mm hex long enough to reach it and put some impact on it.

Thanks allot!
