I'm looking for #344454180 (for grinder) and #344454110 (for drill/driver). Where would be a good source to order/buy those optional Metabo carrying cases online? I checked with CPO Metabo and they said they don't do special order.

Check with your local welding supply or industrial supply. Don't expect it to be cheap, though. Mine was like 35, 40 bucks IIRC.

I'd like to find a supplier that could special order these specific cases that I listed. Is there a good regional / nationwide Metabo supplier that I could check with?

Amazon and eBay do not have the cases I am looking for. I just would prefer to buy them from a Metabo supplier.

I am familiar with these cases. You know what *****? They're awesome. $25, stack well (locking), perfect size and profile...etcetera. Easily my most favourite tool/power tool case....ever.

I have a whole two. One came with my SBE751; the other purchased from hardwaresales.com . The one they have is for a cordless power drill, i believe.
I also believe I have my angle grinder in there (jerry rigged).

62385400 is blank with foam. I want a half dozen. Retrofit with tool pallets.
So, about that: I learned to search for "mc20 something something neutral".
That's what Metabo ***** at. Hand me a catalog, "wtf is all this? what do you mean it's distro in us? where?" Cases all id'd by serial #.... hunt all night and day.... whoops....cases id'd by model number (not in catalog). uggg.

Amazon.de has the case I am looking for. Actually, only german retailers offer it for sale. Have a local dealer, will check with them first. However, I have a fear that the $25 case will become $57 real quick....and take 5-10 weeks. No hard facts, just the gist, just the gist.

Hope your quest ended well, OP. hope mine does too, or that I at least source who's rocking the oem on these babies. ; )

[edit: Just realized I really should clarify: they don't lock together ala systainers. A simple tongue and groove so they won't slide about...right away. :0 ]

Those systainers along with bit sets and other misc. are what got me wondering if the cases we speak of may go by another name.... : )

But they're molded in PRC, and I was under the impression they only outsource locally or possibly from the drill bit company they distro here (forgot name).
Soooo, perhaps I should actually contact Metabo like a grown up? :0

I prefer my overpriced plastic rectangle over the financially out of reach tackle box legos. It's a dimensional thing. : )

Yeah, I finally came around to that conclusion! :0

Didn't know about the "maxi". didn't know they have pallet syle tool holsters for the "4". (BTI is all I can find ) etcetera.

will look further into this.

Then again, the plastic multimaster case is really nice too. I just have to cut out the foam but leave part of it for the and and and....

Can't help with the specific cases, but I've got one for my 4.5" metabo grinder. It's great. I love the old Milwaukee cases for the Sawzall and older 1/2" magnum drills too.

Though I'd love to get a complete systainer set-up!

How come stuff like this isn't at my local Festool/Tanos peddlers?
Nor online...nor the states?

Ooo, plastic dividers....ooooo...square plastic box.

ooooooo, foam. neato. :0

I mean, c'mon. : o

Festool doesn't offer all the available accessories for the Systainers, just what they think cabinetmakers and finish carpenters will use and purchase. Most Tanos dealers I've seen seem to be "just setting up" and don't stock every item. I'm not sure how easy it would be to have them special order items they don't stock.

I've got it all sorted out. Leave it to the Canadians to represent the common sense element (as usual).

http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=68749&cat=1,43326,64664

Now, I knew that Woodcraft began selling Tanos, recently. I wasn't
aware that they took over mysystainer.com . So, unless Woodcraft chooses
to carry it; don't expect the US Tanos site to represent Tanos. Thus, the tool
pallets that very much do exist are no longer on the site (a single version is, however). However, I now understand, that they once were.

Actually, Woodcraft's selection is pretty odd, imho. Everything is that ugly and not clever for any use grey/black.... but two random grey/white and blue systainers. :headscrat

Back to Canada. I guess Felder is running "tlocksystainer...something something" in the same respect as Woodcraft. Check it out:

http://www.feldercanada.com/html/tanos/t-loc_systainer_empty_1.html

What's the first thing you notice? Inside dimensions? Why would anyone
list that and make it so obvious and in front of my face? They must be crazy or something. Nobody else seems to think it matters...... :bounce:

Anyway, check out what BTI do for me that Festool/Tanos don't seem to think is of any use:

http://en.bti.de/pdf/bti-in-products-systra-safety-at-work-workshop-requirements.pdf

Who's this BTI think they are trying to sell a solutions product to people who need solutions by demonstrating the ways in which it solves...stuff? :D

Whoops, take that back...I guess Tanos was wanting to tell me all about themselves all along... and in ENGLISH! wow...so it's like .co.uk or .com
right? ohhhhhh:

http://www.tanos.de

Wow, video, .pdf's...a tad convoluted...but not horrible...still accomplishes...stuff. Hella better than nothing. Oh, look, there's the pallets again... wait...configurator?....I can...whhhat?...oh wait...euro container? Those are the perfect solution to every business ever. Tell me more. Dealers? US? Ok..let's see.. B2B...erm...e-mail to tanos...ok..nevermind...um... direct to consumer.. ok.......
... WOODCRAFT.

Awww helllll nahhh. I can only say nice things about the salespersons at my specific local Woodcraft...but....erm...yeah, I don't think they're quite up to special ordering specialty special stuffs from Tanos in Deutscheland of whom they just began business with...via acquisition of Japanwoodworker. Erm....

Well, at least I have this brochure, and know where to find out about tanos stuff. Thank you Ultimate Garage.

In the end, I totally can make the way better attache tool case for the same price as the cheapest attache cases available. Have you seen an attache tool case in person? Felt one? Touched one? A.) The pallets never actually fit. B.) the top pallet is a swinging about C.) the bottom pallet is always loose D.) The section below the bottom pallet is always of zero design effort. Well, that applies to the whole shebang. Oh, and they're wastefully bulky...annnd they're all junky.

But I wouldn't have known if it wasn't for Lee Valley + BTI .

Yeah, I get it, Festool has been going for the $$bags weekend warriors in North America. Think about it for a second. Of all of the persons on planet earth who could benefit from systainers/sortainers; who'd be the two specific persons who'd see zero benefit...perhaps even hinderance? Ahhhh, a car detailer and a woodworker. And who's being sold systainers? Ahhhhhh, the "woodworker" and the "car detailer". Gotchya. :)

I'm perfectly ok with that. But, man, they're totally missing out on opportunities to sell a lot of product in the states. They've been losing me
for years. I'm sure everyone I've worked with in a manual labor capacity would jump all over these products....had they known they're not just empty boxes. I'm sure field technicians, medical persons, salespersons..etcetera...oh...wait...that's what systainers are for in Europe.
So.... :headscrat

Let's get back to Metabo. They're not in the clear. They're still in my rifle's scope. Let's do this.

So, thanks to Ebay and not Metabo, I am aware of Metalock (they call it).
Not to be confused with Metabox. I understand that this product isn't
licensed for the US, I shouldn't know it exists. That's cool. I probably
should know that 623854000 is really MC10 or MC20 (as pertaining to the OP's enquiry before I hijacked his thread). The OP probably doesn't want to know that we got gipped and that attachment accessory boxes known as "plus box" exist for the plastic case he was asking about....they just didn't bother to carry them over here. It's like selling me a nintendo without the rob robot. C'mon, everybody needs a robot.

Anyway, metaloc is available in the UK. Let's see what metabo uk...wait..metabo.com (us url????) has to say about it.

Oh, this is too rich.

So, if you go to Metabo.co.uk....I mean Metabo.com
You won't find metaboloc. You will find metabox.

But, if you search "metaloc"... you'll find 80 results for
product descriptions and news dispatches stating something
to the tune of "comes in the new Metaloc case".

Yes, that new metaloc case, the one that's in the catalog? Nope, metabox
is. The one you did a news release about? The one you describe? The one
on your website under "metaboxes and cases"...oh..yeah..metabox.

Guess what you will find? This:

http://www.metabo.com/Product-catalogue-accessories-handheld-powertools.24046+M5c916a15fec.0.html

I actually know what it is. It's for the top of one of dem vacuum cleaners. Would I know that if I was an industrial client ready to buy 500 vacuum cleaners with stacky boxes from Metabo? No. No I wouldn't. Trust me, the .pdf / printed catalog is just as...erm..descriptive and visually representative.

And I will give them credit, the metabox section does say what power tools fit per. Although, I'm confused about III being suitable for all sanders except the SXE 400. I'm confused why they have a power tool named after a drug free lifestyle, but that's a different conversation all together. The sxe400 is probably their smallest power tool. Again, if I didn't own one, and I didn't know metaboxes are just systainers and metalocs are just t-locks which are systainers...same size and diameter with a different locking mechanism....

Do you get the picture?

If this was confusing and sounded like it was written by a crack-ridden mess; then I achieved my purpose. It mirrors my experience trying to find out very simple information about a product.

Metabo (worldwide), Festool and Tanos (north america) really need to fire and re-hire as necessary so they can fix up their garbage marketing strategy.

Metabo Metabox Systainers are relabeled "Classic" series systainers. This is the older style Systainer box that's been around for a decade or two.

Metabo Metaloc systainers are relabeled "T-Loc" Systainers. T-Loc systainers are the newer style Systainer box that came out within the past few years.

Some companies that sell relabeled Systainers have their own custom accessories made for them or even have whole custom Systainers made for specialized purposes.

The T-Loc Systainers are not completely incompatible with the Classic Systainers, they just have to be attached to the top of the older style Systainers. Tanos still manufactures the older systainers because a large number of companies use them, and because not all the options and accessories made for the older Systainers are available for the newer T-Loc Systainers yet. The injection molding dies for plastic components can also be incredibly expensive, so Tanos is likely rolling out production piece by piece.

The Systainer system was originally designed for the European market. The boxes meet size criteria for the German postal system shipping regulations. They've only become more common in the USA and North America since Festool has become more widely used. It can take a while to develop a distribution network.

If you're looking for Tanos items you can't find in the USA there's a company called KofferFunShop. https://www.kofferfunshop.de/systainer/systainer.html They're located in Germany but also list prices in other currencies including the US Dollar, British Pound, Danish Krone, Swedish Krone, Polish Zloty, and Norwegian Krone. My understanding is they will ship Systainer items internationally. Since they're located in Germany getting individual accessories may be easier for them.

Lastly, Yetihunter, are you drunk typing or on narcotics, cause seriously, WTF.

@yetihunter: that was a hell of a post! Thanks for the info.

Anyone know if the Metabo sheet metal cases are made in Germany? I assume not for the price, but maybe they are? The ABS plastic Systainers are made in Germany last time I checked.

Nice find Monte!

I bought this from Amazon:

Metabo 623874000 Large Grinders Carrying Case

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00069LC2U/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Unfortunately, they delivered it wrapped in singly ply cardboard with both ends exposed (no packaging) and it got some scratches and dings to it. Worst case of packaging I've ever seen by a commercial outfit!

I went through the amazon returns process/replacement, and then realized they'll probably send another packed just as shoddy. Oh well.

Here's a few representative photos. I'm flabbergasted by the stupidity!

I have a feeling that's how it may well turn out. But I'll see if they can get it right the second time, and maybe even attempt to contact someone via telephone.

Just got a Metabo rotary sander too -- so am looking for a case for that. I think I'll try elsewhere than amazon for that though.

This kind of packaging isn't uncommon although Amazon usually does a better job. I don't know about now, but the packaging for Bosch power tools used to be terrible. When I first started buying power tools, maybe ten years ago, when there were fewer companies offering the type of discounted street prices you find everywhere now, I ordered a few Bosch tools. When they arrived the corners of a couple of the tools were sticking out of the boxes. The companies that shipped them just stuck a label on the Bosch box and handed it to the UPS guy. The tools were USA made Bosch, so they worked fine, but they were scratched up a bit. The price was good so I didn't return them since the profit margin probably sucked.

Sorry about your Metabo case. Do you think Metabo offers cans of genuine Metabo green Touch up paint.

Don't think I haven't looked! Re: packing. I was kinda thinking the same thing as you: margins are relatively low but I don't see why they wouldn't put it in a decent box!

I just got another case. This last one arrived in worse shape than the first. And they sent it to me despite the product page indicating that the case was out of stock.

I'm going to try to find a telephone number to talk to a real person.
Amazon does allow one to leave feedback on how something is packaged. I did that, though I thought afterward about it affecting some poor guy's job.

i'm betting theres a 99% chance thats the "original" packaging of that item how amazon gets it from the manufacturer. They don't stock flat cardboard that just happens to fit the dimensions of the box with a diamond cutout that perfectly fits the handle.

I place 5-10 orders a week on amazon, and the packaging is done in various degrees, depending on what it is and which warehouse it comes from.

most tools that come in cases get shipped as you got. My paslodes came in the orange cases and stock carboard that doesnt cover the ends. Not that concerned about it. yeah its a $400 nailgun, but the case it there to protect the gun and will get beat up over time anyways.

some of my dewalt items came just in teh stock items cardboard box.

Sometimes packing it in a shipping box is worse than the stock box. Ordered shocks for my truck, shipped in 3 different orders. Two of them were just the box the shock came in with a label on them and no problems. The other warehouse put that box into a triangle UPS box, and the UPS box shoes up empty and the shock ripped its way out the bottom.

which packaging worked better there?

Bit of a thread resurrection but I have been getting a few of the Tanos T Loc boxes (One BTI version, two Metabo Metaloc and three Festool versions) which all stack well together perfectly.

I had a size 1 orange BTI T-Loc box for quite a while which I stored my Hitachi drill in, then my venerable Bosch jigsaw was starting to pack up on me so I got a Metabo Steb 140 jigsaw complete with their green size 2 T-Loc box.
And I've been after a Festool TS55 REQ plungesaw* for ages and finally forked out for that, it came complete with a very light grey size 4 T-Loc box.

I've got a few more boxes as and when and I now if everything else is equal (price and spec) I would buy the powertool that comes with the T-Loc box over any that doesn't.
I have seen Festools cart thing, which to me is overpriced and has too many catches for holding the boxes on.
I have some bits of plywood, four large castors (five inch diameter wheels) and plan on making a cart that uses the T-Loc catch and the little French cleats on the underside of the boxes to lock the box to the cart, just like the boxes lock together.
Maybe even put a removable worktop that can go on top of the stack on as well.

I am sick to the back teeth with a mass of different size and shape toolboxes on my van, taking up far too much space and rattling about.
These boxes are helping a lot.

*Festool TS55 Plungesaw? Plus track and ancillaries was an expensive purchase and I really don't have much spare cash about but hell fire, what a machine. Its a serious bit of kit.

I'll be buying one of those for my multimaster then. My only problem with these systainers is I also have some of the Sortimo (mainly Bosch branded) ones as well, so I have ended up with some of both systems, also the price, its going to take me a while to buy enough for all my tools.

Fein is now selling the empty systainer 1 and 2 officially:

1407846375-65900200.jpg

I spotted that Fein were selling their top of the range version with those boxes recently. Not entirely sure its a better tool than the Bosch versions but if the price is equal and the box is the same...

I have three of the Sortimo boxes that have come with Bosch powertools, they are OK but they don't stack as well and you can't open one lower down when one is above it.

Put it this way, since I got some T-Loc boxes I've retired the Sortimo ones.

I was wondering about that since that comes up quite a bit, why would you want to open a toolbox with another toolbox or boxes on top of it and how often does that happen?

You'd only want to do it with one or two on top otherwise its gets to heavy and awkward, if you keep a power tool in the bottom and consumables above it can work, I do prefer to separate boxes if there is room for them.

Yeah, I try to get boxes with related content together.
Right now I only have a truck so I stack them all the time but once I get a van I will use some sort of drawer system for most of them.

My biggest problem in the moment is that most of my boxes which are mostly L-Boxxes are so over loaded that I need both hands for most mid to big boxes.

In the beginning I was concerned because they seem flimsy build but they really can take a beating.

Personally I take the L-Boxxes over Systainer because they seem to be a tad softer.
With the Systainer I always have the feeling that they brake easier, but I never did brake one so far, since they are harder but that might be just my imagination and I do not have any experience with the new version of Systainers.

Its handy if you have a size 1 containing fixings and consumables over one containing the tool but I wouldn't do it with a full stack.

For me though, I just prefer the way these lock together to either the L-Boxx Sortimos or the older Systainers with more catches on them.
Plus these fit exactly into my van toolsafe.

I have three L-Boxx Sortimos and will be moving them on at some point in the future.

Whatever you do, don't order your Metabo cases from Amazon if you want them to arrive perfect. The packaging is my most horrible thing around. It's superficial. I think I posted some photos a while back. They arrive scratched and dinged. I need another and am going to try the CPO outlet.
