Currently looking at their 12inch miter saw at Lowe’s.
I know they are Hitachi, but has anyone had any problems?

Yea. I sent my 36v drill in for repair because the plastic that held the battery on broke less than a year after I got it. It had not been dropped or abused. So they tell.me that it's not covered and say that if it was going to break from a defect it would have happened already because based on the date of manufacture they claim it was over there years old. After some arguing and my explaining that I just bought it last summer, and that they market these as something a professional can use and that it shouldn't just break like that, especially when that drill. cost 400 dollars for the kit, they agreed to fix it under warranty. So far, just a bit of aggravation but at least they are fixing it.

So I get it back, and they put a "HiKoki" housing on it. On top of that, they didn't even put the serial number sticker back on it. Rather than the lifetime warranty, HiKoki tools have a three year warranty. And if I need warranty service, I cant even claim that because I have an invoice that says Metabo HPT and way of showing that tool is the same one.

So I emailed them. They never responded. I'm going to have to call them. I'm not optimistic that they will fix this.

I used to like Metabo hpt tools, but if the warranty isn't worth anything , and they try to make excuses and it's a **** shoot whether you can talk them into fixing it, and then if you do they screw it up, I'm no longer a fan.

For a basic miter I would find a deal on a used one. Sliders are harder to find deals on used.
Something that big would be a hard warranty claim especially if you need to ship it to have a repair done.

I have been shopping for a 12in slider and IF I go new I am leaning on the Bauer. But coupon deals and real sales are few and far between these days.

To be fair to Metabo, they DID pay return shipping. I reached out to them again. We shall see. I'm not particularly happy though. But they still have a chance to make things right.

Ok. I just got a call from Metabo hpt today. They are taking care of it. They are sending me a new drill and apologized for the hickup. So I can't fault them at all. They had some snafus but they took care of it. I'm a happy customer and I'd buy Metabo hpt again.

I just bought what I believe is the same saw yesterday. On sale for the same price, but at Menards. So far so good, but I have only made about 30 straight cuts through 1X material. It's a huge upgrade from the Ryobi 10" slider that I have had enough of and threw out.

BidSky Tools is great for Hitachi purchases, Ive had
several positive transactions with them.

Again... for $30+ you can have a excellent saw vs a entry level saw - C10FSHCT

Notice the rails, they are fixed = much better accuracy. Know who else uses this, Festool Kapex which is $1200.

That's the one that's $219 for an A grade refurbs until tommorow from big sky tools. I bought a corded power drill and a pneumatic brad nailer from them. They were both the C grade refurbs which are supposed to have a bit of wear, but the drill looked new and the nailer looked new except for one small scratch.

I've had a C12RSH2 for a few years now and it's been working well. Only issue is the brake doesn't always kick on. Otherwise, it's accurate and well made

Have you contacted Metabo hpt about it. Shouldn't it have a 5yr warranty. They paid for return shipping on my stuff.

Nope. Considered it at one point, then life got in the way. If I am not past the 5yrs at this point, I'm close.

Saw still works fine

You should check. It doesn't take long long and can all be done by email.

I think they are a very good tool for the price.
Have several of their offerings.
I like the cordless ones. I wish they were variable speed though. That would be really sweet. My Metabo hpt 36v angle grinder is variable speed as is my reciprocating saw and it's actually really handy.

LOL. You Want to do it for me?

The hassle of shipping a 12" sliding miter saw around the US is not insignificant. I have more important **** to worry about than a problem that isn't a problem

I just received the drill. I expected a bare tool. They sent me the whole kit with a case, two batteries and a charger!

Another happy Big Sky customer here. I have several corded tools and air nailers from them.

I was just thinking last night when leaning hard on an angle grinder how many others I've killed doing the same thing, but the Hitachi/Metabo just takes a beating and keeps going. I could hear the motor straining.

If you like metabo-hpt tools, check out all the stuff they DONT sell in the United States. You can get a lot of it off the German Amazon site with prime shipping though. https://www.hikoki-powertools.com/catalog/
