I have a metal arch garage, 20 by 20 ft. 12 ft high. Built into an older square 16 by 26 ft garage. I needed the space so I built one end of the arch metal garage into the older wood frame garage. turned out pretty good. But I should have gone at least wider. 10 ft wider. I am pretty satisfied with the size since adding on. But I learned real quick that bigger is better. 30 by 30 would have been better. But I can either take it apart and put up a bigger garage or add to the side if it is possible. Could add to the front, but one of my neighbors doesn't want it blocking her view. It can be done I am sure. I have a lot of work in the garage now, taking it apart would be a lot of work since I have already modified it, the metal garage. Was thinking of building onto the side of the metal arch by leaving two ends on, which are 2 ft wide each, to support it. That would leave 16 ft width I could add on . I would have to take the 2 ft sections off in the middle of the building, leaving 16 ft length. Was going to extend it out around 5 to 8 ft on the side. It would be kind of like putting in an entrance door only wider. Any ideas. Thanks!

That type of building is a pretty well engineered thing.
Arches can be tricky depending on the load they are expected to carry.
You don’t say where you are so we have no idea if there are any snow loads to consider.
But, most often a wider span needs a higher span.

I would have to say to get in touch with the maker and tell them what you have and what you have done to it and what you now want it to be.
I expect it can be done, bit I would not be surprised if you have to go higher to do it.

Actually I was looking at the garage today and it would probably be best to just buy a larger garage and take this one down. I could leave two sections on that are attached to the old garage and then go over those sections with a bigger garage, arch that is. For now this size will have to do. May be a later to do project. One good thing about these metal bolt together garages is there not that hard to assemble or take apart. Still a lot of work, but they are easier than stick built frames in my opinion to assemble, once you get the hang of it.

How do you upload pictures here. I could take a couple of pics. Need to know how to upload. I don't have a picture or photo web service. Thanks!
