Metal as floor tile accents? Tiling experts wanted

I got a hair-brained idea last month and went to the scrap yard and got some 1/4" thick rusty diamond tread cut into 4" squares.

I want to put these as accents in my shop bathroom floor between floor tiles.

I will likely seal them with something - clear coat spray or some clear flat urethane to keep the rust "in"

These will go onto a concrete slab floor.

Talking to friends/family has me concerned about two things:

1) Cracking / lifting of the metal tiles due to corrosion
2) Cracking / lifting of the metal tiles due to different cooling rates of the steel tile vs. ceramic tile next to it.

Thoughts?

Not sure but I do know that DiamondLife has a metal floor tile and I believe they have a standard floor tile that you can lock into it

FYI - talked to a tiling contractor.

He recommended using Laticrete Hydro ban on the backs of the steel tiles and then using thinset. The Hydro ban will aid with rust prevention as well as thinset adherence to the metal tiles.

I worked in the high voltage substation world and we used bitchmastic (bituminous asphaltic emulsion) between cement and any metal that was bolted down to the cement.
This stopped corrosion of nuts and bolts from dissimilar metal and soil contact.
