Metal Building Chimney Pipe Through Wall

Hello: New here to the board. I just built a 30X40 metal (red iron) shop and want to install a wood stove. Been looking at the 8" Dura Vent chimney kit (expensive) but the wall thimble has me stumped. I will be going through the wall rather than the ceiling. The walls are your typical "corrugated" (ridges and valleys) and I don't think a regular thimble will work. Whomever has done this, give me some ideas/suggestions/pictures. Thanks!:headscrat

Why not go through the ceiling ? It will be cheaper and stove will draft better.

Adjustable roof support #6DT-ARS to support the pipe on the roof.
#9 Dektite boot to seal the pipe.

Over the past 28 years I have done 100's like this with zero leaks or issues.

Going thru the roof will substantially reduce the cost of your system as well. Use the Dura-vent DVL interior pipe. The system will operate better with it.

I went through the wall on several different metal buildings and had no draft problems. I didn't use insulated pipe or any through wall fitting either. I never had a problem. I have routinely burned used oil, wood, plastic, trash and coal. I've had fires so hot the barrel was glowing. I never had a chimney problem or any evidence of paint burning on the steel panels.

You cut a round hole big enough for pipe to go through.

Trace around your thimble then cut only a kerf slot out of the high spots on the corrugations of the metal.

The thimble will rest on the flats of the metal.

Install screws and caulk thimble.
