This isn't something that will have a one true answer... I'm not asking for what my building would cost, just what you spent.

I am looking at options on a new facility for my company and playing with the idea of building from scratch. Thinking between 40x80 to 60x100, with plans for an easy addon. I currently live in my shop now and will build another efficiency into my new shop when the time comes... (I know what the added cost will be). I will be doing everything myself exept the slab... though I may do it too.

But my question is: What did your metal building cost you per sqft. (roughly) to put up. Make a note of what you hired out and what you did yourself. Also a quick description would be cool... (size, number of doors, hight ext.)

Thanks

I almost completed my 40'x80' all steel building , 3 man doors, 3 12'x12' insulated garage doors. The high ceiling gives you the ability for a loft , the reason I went with a all steel building. I wanted a 60'x60' and chose a 40' x80' to have a 4/12 pitch seamless roof to match my house including two foot overhangs and split bloick 4 ft curb wall. Even though you can just see the roof of my garage from my house I did not want something that looked out of a industrial park. Cost for the building with all the options and doors was in the 50 K range for the steel only. You can figure on another 50 k for 6" slab, footer, foundation, drains, stub out for future plumbing, pex tubing for heat and concrete apron. Add 15 k for heat and electrical. This would be material cost , I did the majority of the labor with what my wife calls the other women,"my buddies". I need to install liner panel and complete my electrical outlets and welder plugs including air plumbing.

If I had to do it all over again and wanted to cut cost I would have done a pole building and forget about a 4 ft curb wall. I could have saved on all the cost associated with a full footer including all the block work. I did get a price off Morton for the exact same style and I can say I have less in the all steel , but their price included labor except for the slab.

Good luck
Mac
