How are the ridge vents working ?Mueller Inc. did me right. Jessie Carrera in El Paso was prompt at calling back and answered all questions. No hidden fees, everything was straight forward.
40'X80'x14' 1:12 pitch, four 10'x12' garage door openings, one "man door",two 10' ridge vents. 24k delivered. More importantly, the drawings are complete with load calculations to satisfy you local county for permitting.
Any more pictures close up on how they went around the insulation for the ridge vents ?How are the ridge vents working ?
are the vents even needed ?This thread is almost ten years old.
I can tell you how the vents and the insulation work since I am in the business.
The insulation is folded back to where the vent housing is installed. There should be extra purlins installed at this location. The vent is installed over the sheeting with closures.
If it is a manual vent the chain is routed to a handy location. If it is electric then the electrician will take care of the controls.
Hope that helps.
live in houston tx area shop is 40x40x14 with 3:12 pitch . vinyl backed 4" insulation with 4 12x12 roll up doors.Depends on your location and environment. They can vent heat out of the building. The are popular for barns housing animals to reduce heat and odors. I don't sell a lot of them but the people that have them like them.
Wow great info didn’t even think about that ! My building is windstorm engineered as well . Thank you I live in Alvin , Liverpool area !Better check with your insurance outfit ...
Buddy of mine in Santa Fe, TX built a new 40x60 around 8 yrs ago. I asked him why he didn't have the ridge vents like my shop and he said new code don't allow them anymore. Hurricane / windstorm code.
A quick google says that ridge vents are still allowed, but must be rated for those conditions.I asked him why he didn't have the ridge vents like my shop and he said new code don't allow them anymore. Hurricane / windstorm code.
just 4" white faced vinyl fiberglass that rolls over the purlins is what i haveA quick google says that ridge vents are still allowed, but must be rated for those conditions.
Also depends on how you want to insulate. If you're spraying foam, you don't want vents anyway.
My google skills are pretty good, but I'd be happy to ask Steven next time.Well they may be, but I'll believe my buddy Steven before I believe google. LOL
Or "wind rated" vent products were not available here at the time.It very well coud have been that whoever erected his building just refused to install them. Maybe didn't want to go through the hassle or expense of whatever extra was required at that time.
Double the insulation on the roof with strapping, and then HVAC....works great in east Texas.live in houston tx area shop is 40x40x14 with 3:12 pitch . vinyl backed 4" insulation with 4 12x12 roll up doors.
