Are you looking for cabinets that look nice, or are simply functional?

You can often find really nice metal cabinets at surplus places, Craigslist, and such. They might not be pretty, but the quality is often better than today's stuff. I got a nice one for $50 from the local university weekly surplus sale.

I second this. I picked up a tennsco cabinet for $25 from a local place that buys random bulk stuff. Only downside was I had to assemble it myself. I'd say it's on par with HON. I see them on craigslist daily for less than what the big box stores sell.

I bought a Kobalt hanging wall cabinet and I am pretty pleased with it. It was a bit more money than I wanted to spend but looks nice hanging on the wall. It is pretty heavy duty for what it is.

Definitely check out craigslist if you don't mind used. All of my cabinets have come from craigslist and cheap!

I bought some used ones from a member here (Fyrme). He works for a demolition company near Tulsa, Oklahoma part time. I'm pretty sure that they came from a chemistry lab somewhere.

I finished installing them a week ago and am trying to reorganize the rest of the shop.

Whenever I find the old porcelain finished steel kitchen cabinets that they sold in the 50s & 60s, I scoop them up, repaint them and mount them on the shop wall. For floor cabinets, I have a couple of steel stand alone steel, kitchen cabinets (5'h x 2'w x 1'd), and a mimeograph machine cabinet (if you're old enough to remember those). IMO: All of the above mentioned are much beefier than what you can get now from the big box stores or even an industrial supplier.

I have the welded version of that Husky. I think it is fine for home garage use. The metal used is rather thin and would dent easily if bumped into often. If you put substantial weight on the top, the top will bow in.

It would not stand up to regular use in a shop, but again, for home use with a conscientious owner, it is fine. I like the style a lot.
